05/14/09:
THIS
LITTLE STAR WILL STEAL THE SHOW
Star
is a
petite
nine
month
old
deaf
female
who
was
surrendered
to
NBR
by a
family
who
was
having
difficulty
with
her
training.
Star
was
too
focused
on
her
sibling
sister
and
was
becoming
a
handful.
They
thought
it
would
be
best
to
find
Star
another
home
so
each
puppy
could
get
individual
attention.
Star
is
outgoing,
not
at
all
shy,
and
loves
other
animals
and
people.
She
is
affectionate
and
likes
to
cuddle
in
your
lap.
She
is
very
food
motivated
which
helps
with
her
training,
and
is
doing
well
learning
hand
signals.
Star
likes
to
interact
with
everyone
but
she
can
also
keep
herself
busy
playing
with
her
toys.
House-training
her
has
been
easy.
Star
weighs
in
at
only
34
lbs,
has
a
soft
white
coat,
and
has
beautiful
blue
eyes.
She
was
diagnosed
with
a
minor
case
of
non-contagious
démodéctic
mange
prior
to
coming
into
rescue.
We
will
have
her
examined
by a
vet
to
make
sure
she
was
prescribed
the
correct
medical
treatment.
Star
is
spayed
and
will
be
ready
for
adoption
once
she
gets
a
good
report
from
the
doctor.
Since
Star
is
deaf
she
will
need
to
be
placed
in a
home
with
a
securely
fenced
yard
(invisible
fencing
will
not
be
considered).
The
first
Update
from
Star’s
Foster
Family:
“My
wife
and
I
made
a
journey
to
meet
Michelle,
a
boxer
rescue
volunteer.
She
helped
with
the
transport
of a
deaf
female
boxer
who
has
been
named
Star.
Star
was
very
excited
to
meet
us
(as
we
were
to
meet
her)
and
she
was
extremely
friendly.
The
ride
home
was
very
pleasant
and
enjoyable.
Star
sat
on
my
wife's
lap,
slept
or
enjoyed
the
sights
through
the
car
window.
Upon
arrival
at
our
home,
my
other
two
dogs
greeted Star
without
incident.
My
oldest
dog,
a
mixed
lab/shepard,
introduced
Star
to
the
backyard
and
showed
her
the
proper
location
for
her
duty.
Star
picked
up
on
his
signals
very
quickly.
The
dogs bonded
right
away
by
playing
together
with
toys,
wrestling
and
ended
up
sleeping
together.
We
are
trying
to
establish
hand
signals
for
tricks,
far
away
commands
and
alternatives
when
her
back
is
turned.
Star
met
the
cat
on
day
three.
They
first
looked
at
each
other
and
then
went
their
separate
ways.
The
cat
came
out
a
little
later
and
they
checked
each
other
out;
nothing
exciting
transpired.
Star
is
adjusting
and
is
overcoming
a
little
bout
with
diarrhea,
which
is
to
be
expected
with
the
changes
in
her
life.
We
took
her
for
an
outing
at
the
beach
and
she
really
had
a
great
time.
Star
seems
to
be
adapting
quickly.
We
will
send
another
update
as
soon
as
we
learn
more
about
her.”
