04/10/13: Our Good
Intentions Go Awry
-
Urgent Home Needed
Our hopes were that
reuniting
Wembly
with Cottontail would be
good for them both.
Unfortunately this has
not been the case.
Wembly
has decided that the
newly found affection
that he has been getting
from people is too good
to share. The dogs were
happy to see each other
at first but after being
together for a short
time
Wembly
has become a bit of a
bully.
Wembly
has typical young boxer
energy and, since he is
deaf, he needs a home
with a fenced yard. He
also needs to be placed
with someone who can be
with him the better part
of the day. We are
trying desperately to
keep
Wembly
from going to the
boarding
kennel....PLEASE come
forward to help foster
or adopt.
03/31/13: Wembly Shows
Slow And Steady Progress
We are happy to
report that Wembly is
now in a wonderful and
caring foster home.
Since this move, we have
learned more about him.
He has obviously been
kept outside most of his
life and has likely
never lived inside a
home. He clearly was
treated harshly quite
possibly because he was
misunderstood as he is
deaf.
Despite his
background, Wembly is
still a sweet and loving
dog and tries his best
to trust people. He was
a bit apprehensive with
all his new surroundings
but is adjusting rather
well. When he feels
secure he is loving and
very affectionate. Every
day he gets a little
better.
Wembly
is getting help from a
trainer to work on his
socialization skills.
Early on, we realized
that Wembly was abused.
He will cower (actually
flatten himself to the
ground) when you
approach him as if he
was going to be hit. He
is leery to have eye
contact with you while
he tries to be
submissive so people
won’t hurt him. Wembly
came into rescue with
Cotton Tail and our plan
is to reunite them again
once Cotton Tail’s
recovery from her
heartworm treatment is
complete. Wembly was
much more secure when he
was with his friend and
we are hopeful that once
they are back together
his trust for people
will advance more
quickly.
UPDATE
FROM WEMBLY’S FOSTER
MOM:
“Wembly
is settling in with our
family here in NH. He is
being introduced to a
lot of new things that
he hasn't experienced
before; snow (a lot of
it), doggie toys and
special treats. He has
had a tough beginning of
his life and is trying
to get used to being in
a loving home and
trusting us two legged
beings again. Over the
last few weeks he has
become more comfortable
and is finally starting
to make himself right at
home.
Wembly is deaf and does
have some separation
anxiety issues. We are
working with a trainer
to help with both; to
communicate with him
using hand signals and a
pen light ,and to help
work on his anxiety. Our
hopes are that once he
is reunited with his
friend Cotton Tail,
Wembly will gain back
his confidence and some
of this anxiety will
subside or disappear. He
did great in his first
class and we are working
on some of the signals
we learned. Wembly is
doing a good job picking
up on these new
techniques which is
fantastic since he is
learning commands for
the first time. He loves
to take walks and has
learned to become a very
good walker on the
leash.
Wembly is definitely a
handsome boy and
receives a lot of
compliments on his good
looks. He is very sweet
and has such a great
personality. He does
enjoy the kids and likes
to use them as pillows
on occasion.”
Thank you Michelle,
Keith, Connor and
Alyssa. NBR is grateful
for the patience,
guidance and love you
continue to show Wembly.

Wembly Is Happy Go
Lucky In Spite Of It All
Wembly is a charming
young boxer who was
surrendered to a
high-kill shelter with
Cotton Tail. Their time
was up and if we did not
take these dogs they
would have been killed.
Wembly is only 2 years
old and weighs 63
pounds. He was described
by the kennel staff as
friendly and goofy. He
is not in very good
physical condition and
has obviously been
neglected. Luckily he is
heartworm negative
unlike his friend Cotton
Tail.
Sadly we
have no foster homes for
Wembly or any of the
other dogs we have been
asked to help. Wembly
and
Cotton Tail are
currently in a boarding
kennel where they can
only stay short term.
We are doing
everything we can to buy
these dogs some time and
we are desperate for
your help.If you have
ever considered
fostering a dog now is
the time to give it a
try. The lives of these
dogs depend on you…We
cannot save them without
your assistance.
PLEASE HELP, yes we are
begging….These dogs need
you to live.
