03/28/03 - Update

Bones looks and feels wonderful. He has gone from 41 to 56 pounds. Another 5-10 and he will be in full stature. We neutered Bones a few days ago and he is now ready for his forever home. I am sorry there are no new pictures but my digital camera is out for repair. I will post some by the end of next week.

In his foster home Bones lives with two cats and a 2 1/2 year old human. We would love to place Bones in a home with kids and a fence (Invisible Fence is a great option if you do not have traditional fencing).

03/03/03 -

Bones was found wandering the streets. This is the thinnest dog I have ever seen. He has two pressure sores from lying on hard surfaces without any fat under his bones to protect and pad him. All his blood tests are OK so we know we got to him in the "Nick" of time to help.

Bones is maybe a year old. He seems to be a very calm young dog. When he has more strength (after many more good meals) we will be able to see his real personality. We are feeding him 6 meals daily. It will take a while for him to put on weight. Bones is OK with other dogs and cats.

Bones is a case of real neglect or a dog who did not do well on the street by himself. Who could have walked by this dog and not tried to help? It is hard to see in these pictures how thin he really is. I will post more pictures after we bathe him and clean his face.

Because of the cold outside, and the fact he has no body fat, he needs to wear a coat or sweater when outside or he starts to shiver. Bones will only rest when we give him a soft bed to lie on. He knows how to sit and down. Someone out there really left this dog to die.
