Lucas Luke (formal name, Lucas) is a two-year old, neutered male. A beautifully marked fawn and white Boxer that weighs in at 64 lbs. His original family gave him up to a shelter, where he stayed before coming into foster care. Luke is very affectionate, bright, funny and cuddly. He bonds easily and learns quickly. He is inventive in play and regularly comes up with new "ideas" and strategies. I have had dogs for years but this one has surprised me every day with his antics! He is very friendly with most people, although he has showed a brief distrust of certain individuals when he first met them. In those few cases he got through his initial distrust rapidly and made friends with them as well. He is also very friendly with other dogs, though he needs some work slowing down his approach to new canine acquaintances. He is learning to walk well on a leash, though other dogs are a compelling attraction. He is housebroken and only plays with items designated as "his". He is highly agile and careful, and hasn't damaged anything inside the house. Nor has he barked as long as he has a companion and is not left alone. Luke's one difficult issue is separation anxiety. When left alone in the car, he watches out the window all the time and will bark if he can see me. He is not destructive and merely changes seats often. When left alone loose in the house for the first time, however, he tried to get out through a window. With either a crate or a steady companion dog, he would probably be fine left at home for short periods of time. I would recommend Luke for a single adult or couple, and another dog in the house would be a plus. We do not know how he is with cats so it would be best if no cats were in the picture.
