We took Diesel to a homeless dog adoption event in New York City's Central Park and Diesel was the star of the show! Little kids were playing on the ground with him and getting love and kisses. So add to his list of wonderful characteristics, loves children! We arrived at the event at 11:00 AM and by 4:00 PM at least 100 strangers and as many dogs had all come over to get some Diesel kisses. He was completely exhausted but not once did he ever show any signs of not wanting to enjoy meeting new friends. Lots of the kids walked him around and he never pulled them, he seemed to know that slow and easy was best when a child is holding his leash. Every single person that met him could not get over the fact that this big, silly boy is such a lover and even after walking to other exhibits, they kept coming back for more Diesel kisses. 07/22/03
- update for Diesel. Diesel is 100% housebroken and does not need a crate when left alone. He loves to sleep with his foster mom and loves to cuddle on the couch. Diesel does however have a medical condition.. At his young age he has a very slight case of arthritis in his hips and a slightly loose knee. An orthopedic surgeon examined Diesel today. When asked about possible surgery for Diesel, the surgeon said, that perhaps somewhere down the road Diesel mayš need surgery, but right now we should let him run and play and be the happy dog that he is. No special treatment for this boy just lots of love. What a relief! Diesel would like to chase cars, so a fenced yard is a must and hešs a big, strong boy so hešd knock down little ones. He walks very nicely on lead and knows some basic commands sit, shake hands, come, and wait. He loves riding in the car and is enthusiastic to every new adventure you share with him. And, if you have another dog that he can play with, youšd make Dieselšs life perfect. If youšre looking for a dog that loves to have fun, is wonderful with people and animals and expects nothing more then the opportunity to give you millions of kisses, Diesel will win you heart as quickly as hešs won ours. Even the orthopedic surgeon said what a ŗlovely dog˛ Diesel is!!!!!!!!! 07/09/03 - New Pics!!! 05/17/03 - Diesel - (Name a Boxer Boy) Diesel is a flashy brindle male. He is about 2 years old and was picked up as a stray. Our volunteer drove Diesel and another boxer to their temporary home. Here is what she thought of this dog: Everything went fine with the 2 dogs today - The male (Diesel) is terrific! He is soooo friendly, was amazing with the female, and when you play with him - HE SMILES!!! I think once he's cleaned up (he's filthy) he'll be beautiful - and he's got the biggest head. He seems like a real fun loving dog. He's just too nice. Diesel has so much personality that I didn't get to know the other dog too well because he was just a big clown and overshadowed her. Both rode like angels in the car - he was on the back seat and being silly with toys the entire ride, she was on the front seat and just seemed to be exhausted. Diesel will be bathed and neutered this week and will then be ready for his forever home! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an online application first. Then e-mail the contact below. Be sure to include your full name, city, state, and area code in the subject line of your message. |
