I picked Stimpy up this morning and would have kept him in a minute if I could put one more in my house! Shy at first, he quickly decided I was his new best friend. What a little sweetheart! He is definitely hand shy at first, and moreso with men, but he did give kisses, curl up on my lap for the ride, and start wagging his tail. He is a leaner--if you aren't touching him, he moves to where you either are petting him or at the very least he can lean against you! He is a little guy, and he does need to gain a few pounds. He clearly was never out for a car ride--poor dog!!! He stared and stared, and wouldn't dare to get in. After I lifted him in, he started to wag his tail and then he did fine with the car ride. He also didn't know what to do when I opened the door to get out, so needed a lift out as well. About his hind foot that is missing--first, he doesn't know it, or if he knows, he doesn't care! The shelter guesses it was a traumatic amputation, we think he was born like this because there is no scar on the bottom of his leg. He does use the leg to weight-bear. We will have to see, after he is a little less stressed, how he does with other dogs--at the shelter he was fine with some and not so fine with others. This poor little stray with a missing hind foot deserves a second chance--he'll certainly return the kindness with kisses!
