2/1/04 - Thelma

Yes - Thelma is a puppy.
She was purchased by people that already have a young boxer and within days, the resident boxer decided he did not like the idea of sharing his home, so rescue was called.

Thelma is a typical 4 month old boxer puppy.  She is currently in foster care with 2 male boxers and a cat and immediately decided that everyone should love her - so we do!  She runs around the house at 90 mph and then collapses in a heap to take a nap.  She loves to play, and will wiggle her little butt enticing the other dogs to play with her.  She worked up the nerve to bark at the cat, but was quickly put in her place by him.

Thelma completely respects older dogs and we'd love to see her adopted into a family that already has one.

Before you scramble to fill out an application for Thelma, please understand the ground rules about her.  We will not adopt Thelma to a family unless there is someone home a good portion of the day.  Thelma has never been out of the house/cage and therefore she is completely unhousebroken.  She does not even know how to walk outside on lead (she will be leash trained prior to adoption) and is terrified when outside.  As a typical puppy, Thelma is into everything - so she needs supervision.  Because she spent too much time living in a cage, Thelma has absolutely no training and because she has been so stressed out, we will only start with some very basic lessons.

So the family that adopts Thelma must be willing to work with her - slowly.  Thelma appears to be a very smart girl and with calm patience, there is no doubt that she will grow up to be a wonderful addition to the right family.

If you have as much to give to Thelma as she has to give to you, please fill out an application and let us know.  This little girl has a lifetime of love to give.
