FAREWELL TO A FRIEND

We are sorry to announce the death of our beloved Q-Tip, who passed away very suddenly on Tuesday, April 5th.

Q-Tip came to us as a foster dog with a bad report card.  He obviously had a tough life before coming into rescue, and he was often misunderstood.  We worked with Q and are proud to say he found a home with us and was a wonderful, loving dog.  To honor Q, we will be sending in a donation to cover the cost of his adoption.  Q finally found a home.

Thank you Jane Scott and the entire NBR family.  Your dedicated work sometimes goes without thanks and is often so very difficult.  Truth is, if Q-Tip did not have NBR, he most likely would have been put down a long time ago.  Every dog can find a home, all they need is a chance and NBR provides this chance.  You have set the standard very high in the rescue world.

Q, rest peacefully dear friend, for you graduated life with a grade of A+ and you have a family who will forever love you and miss you.

Sadly missed by Steve and Gloria

Update from Foster Home: "We are happy to report Q-Tip is doing great and really enjoying life. His new nicknames are "bug-face" and "Quey." We love this little man.

He was previously having problems with people he did not know. To fix this, we bring Q-Tip outside on neutral turf to meet anyone he has not previously met. This seems to do the trick.

Q is all boxer, if he can lay on you or next to you, he is one happy dude. He goes absolutely crazy for squeaky toys and he provides us with hours of entertainment chasing and throwing his toys around. He is also a fanatic for car rides. He continues to do very well with all of our dogs. He is still a little skinny but we are working on this. We know he would make a very good companion. Don't pass this little man up!!!

Update from Foster Home: "It's been a long summer for Q-Tip. Q spent most of the summer in a kennel/dog day care center. The staff at this center loves Q but they all agreed he needed to get out of the kennel.

Q-Tip needed only about 5 minutes to get comfortable in our house. We love him! It's like he's been with us from day one. He is A+ with our 2 dogs, even our grumpy lab, and he is showering my wife and I with love. He's not a big fan of the cold but it doesn't stop him from playing fetch. His favorite toy so far is a red rubber tennis ball, he chases it all over the house. He can keep himself occupied for hours!

Care must be taken when introducing Q to strangers (a lot of treats in hand and a positive environment are needed), but once he knows you, you've got a new best friend."

Q-Tip is settling into his foster home.  Updates to follow.

Q-Tip is not doing well in the kennel. He needs a home that does not have a lot of activity. Q-Tip has not had much stability in the past few months so he will need someone that will give him time to recover from his stressful ordeal.

We will consider placing Q-Tip in a home with another dog but we will not place him in a home with kids or cats.

Q-Tip needs your help. Someone, please give him a chance.

Q-Tip

Q-Tip just continues to show what an awesome boxer he is! He rode in my car with 3 other dogs (2 boxers and a persnickety corgi) with absolutely no issues! They all sat beautiful one next to the other! This is very typical for him now I see though, no matter WHO he meets - dog or person - he likes them! Q-Tip is such a laid back boy! He would fit in well with or without another dog.

Please fill out an application to foster or adopt this beautiful white boy!

6/2/04 -

Q-Tip is a VERY cute ~5 year old, 60 pound white boy. He is getting neutered today and will be up to date on all of his vaccinations.

When I first met Q-Tip I couldn't get over how sweet he was! He came right up to me and had kisses and a great boxer wiggle all ready for me! In true boxer style - he had a wiggle and a kiss ready and waiting for each person who wanted to come by and pet him (or better yet - give him a cookie!). At the vets office he was more then happy to wiggle and dance around - just happy to be out of the pound and around lots of people!

Q-Tip seems to be good with other dogs so far, but he does not like cats . He has wonderful leash manners, and does not pull (at least not unless there is something *really* cool to look at).

This boy will make someone a great companion - the only real question is will *you* be the one to love him for the rest of his life?
