1/27/05 - Update from Foster Home:

"I took a quick look at the original write-up I did about Greco and have to say it really sums it up pretty well.  He continues to be about the easiest dog we have fostered in our home to date.  I keep hoping that some of his easy-going personality will rub off on our own crazy dogs, but so far it hasn't happened.

I would like to see Greco in a home where someone is home most of the time since he loves companionship.  Another dog in the home would be a big plus since he is used to having our three around to play with at the drop of a hat.  He is allowed on the furniture in our home and has become quite accustomed to it (see pic).  I would hate to see him and his new owners start off with a fight about where he can put his fanny.  He is interested in our cat, who has absolutely no interest in him, but other than dismay at the cat's attitude towards him, there is no problem at all.  Greco would be fine with children of any age.  He is a very gentle, good-natured dog."

12/04/04 - Greco

This is Greco, aka "Doc" or "Little Guy".  Greco's owners brought him to the animal hospital for an injury and were told that he had a broken hip.  They claimed they were not sure how it happened, but they were sure that they did not intend to pay for the care he so desperately needed.  They asked to have him put down instead.  Luckily for Greco the vet refused and was able to convince the owners to surrender Greco to him.  The vet then paid an orthopedic surgeon over $1,000 out of his own pocket to have a pin put in Greco's hip, and we are very happy to say that he is doing great!

Although Greco is very mobile, and is up and walking around, his operation was less than a week ago so he will need a lot of rest....no running around or rough play for the next six weeks.  Greco is a fantastic dog!!!  He is wonderful with people, other dogs and has no problem with or interest in our cat.

Northeastern Boxer Rescue would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Greco of Centerreach, Long Island, NY for his kindness, overwhelming generosity and humane treatment of his namesake, Greco the Boxerboy.
