Farley is a Name
a Boxer dog!
3/29/05 - We are no longer accepting new applications for Farley.
Poor Farley was brought to the shelter by someone who was watching a dog for a "friend". The friend never returned. When Farley was surrendered to the shelter he was in very poor condition, and the shelter staff questioned whether he was intentionally not being fed. He became very ill, and the shelter took him to a hospital where he almost died because of starvation. After two weeks of care, Farley gained 14 pounds, but he still needs to gain about 15 more. Farley has received extensive medical testing to insure that some illness was not the cause of his emaciated condition, and he checked out A-OK. The words the shelter staff used to describe Farley were "playful, non aggressive, a doll, special boy, and silly goofball". He has proven to be all of those things. Farley is adjusting well to living in his foster home. He ignores the cats, barks at the birds, and plays well with their Boston Terrier, Gus. He has a great appetite which is good since he still needs to gain about 15 more pounds before he can be neutered. He currently weighs in at 48 pounds. He has been sleeping in bed with his foster family and loves every minute of his new found comfort. Farley is very sweet and responds well to positive reinforcements like treats. He also loves to play and cuddle. The foster family can not fathom how anyone could have mistreated or abandoned Farley.....he is so wonderful!
