Logan is a Name a Boxer dog!
Thank you Michelle Geraci for naming Logan.
"Logan was my grandfather's name.  He was a very kind, gentlemanly, loving man.  I think a boxer boy would be proud to bear such a handsome name!"

Logan has been adopted!

3/13/05 -
Logan is a 1 1/2 year old fawn neutered male, with big brown eyes and a black mask.  He was turned over to a shelter by his owners.  They told the shelter he was not getting along with the other dog in their home.  He was having a very difficult time in the shelter and was not eating well so the shelter called us for help.  He is now living comfortably in a foster home in Vermont.

While in the shelter, Logan was tested to see how he would react with other dogs.  He responded fine and seemed to get along with the other dogs.  Now in his foster home, Logan lives with a greyhound/black lab mix (a 3 year old female) and they get along terrifically.  Logan's foster home does have a cat, but the cat has not yet warmed up to Logan.  They have not gotten close enough for the foster parent to determine how Logan will react to cats, although he was not reactive to cats at the shelter.

Logan is a sweet and affectionate young dog who loves to sit next to you with his head in your lap.  He enjoys playing with toys, chasing balls, and playfully running after his foster sister.  He is house broken and has shown no signs of bad behavior when left alone in the house.

Logan came to us underweight, and he has a mass hanging from his abdomen. He has also developed a nasty cough.  We took him to the veterinarian to make sure that his cough was not something serious, and to evaluate his abdominal mass.  Logan was prescribed a course of antibiotics for a confirmed case of kennel cough.  The veterinarian’s best guess is that the tumor is most likely benign, but should be removed in any case.  However, he can not have surgery until he is feeling better and has gained more weight.  He currently weighs in at 47 lbs.

Overall, Logan appears to be a healthy, happy dog.  As soon as he recovers from his cough, gains a few more pounds, and has surgery to remove his tumor, he will be ready for adoption.  We will give another update after his surgery.  We are optimistic that we will get good news!  Please keep him in your thoughts.
