4/20/05 - Update from Foster Home: "I would like to tell
you about Max. We excitedly picked up Max on 4/16/05. Our enthusiasm to meet him could only be matched
by his enthusiasm to meet us. Max is a handsome fellow who was obviously well cared for and loved by his
former owner. Max must have spent the previous day getting ready for his surrender as he was freshly
bathed and had a complete pedicure! Max’s ears were spotless and his teeth have been well maintained.
Certainly this well loved and handsome fellow came equipped with just washed bedding, a crate, toys,
food, heartworm medications, a brush, shampoo, bowls, etc. Max eagerly joined us for a rather relaxed
one hour ride home. Sometimes uncertain, he was easily comforted with caring words and the opportunity
to smother you with kisses. Max fully explored our home and large fenced in backyard. He seemed to just
be taking it all in. He has responded very well to our two children, who grew up with a boxer. Max has
been eating and sleeping well the past two days. He has spent some of the evening on his dog bed next to
our bed and the other part of the evening on his dog bed down stairs. I am guessing that Max’s former
home did not have an upstairs or that he was not allowed upstairs. I have not seen him enter his crate.
He has displayed the typical boxer play characteristics. He makes boxer vocalizations and barks at
appropriate times. Max although somewhat smaller than you might expect a male to be is certainly very
strong. He looks to be a very healthy fellow. Max is also an extremely well behaved boxer who has not
showed an interest in the couch or human bed. He needed encouragement to try out his new dog bed for the
first time. Max is also quite the snuggler. If you lie down on the floor he seems to snuggle right in.
Max is social with the neighbor’s dogs through the fence. When we go out (for no more than four hours)
he seems content gated in the kitchen and enclosed porch. Max is very entertained by our parakeet. You
can see the excitement in his body. The parakeet is quite comfortable with Max watching as she used to
sit on our previous boxer. I assure you nothing like this will be going on anytime soon or maybe never.
Max is redirected from the parakeet with a positive distracter. He accepts that his viewing time is up.
That’s all for now! Max’s former owner should feel very
proud of the outstanding boy he raised and should find comfort in knowing that Max is an incredible
boxer who will be overwhelmingly loved by anyone that adopts him."

Max
Max needs
to find a new home.
Max has
only known one family all his life. His current Dad is in the military and is being deployed.
Max lives with two children under 10 years old. He is a bright boy and knows sit, down and go to
bed. He has never been exposed to cats but is good with other dogs.
Max is
housebroken, crate trained, leashed trained and not a barker. Left alone in his fenced yard, he will dig
from boredom.
Max wants
nothing more than to grow old surrounded by a devoted family.
