6/14/05 - Beautiful Leila was dropped off at a CT dog pound after her caretaker died suddenly.  She is approximately 2 years old and has cropped ears and a docked tail.  She is fawn with white markings on her chest and legs. 

We know very little about her past but she is very friendly and curious.  Leila seems to be healthy, and appears to be in good physical condition.  Her foster family has another Boxer girl in addition to several cats.  The dogs are getting along famously, but it is taking a bit longer to make an adjustment with the cats.  She is very curious and wants to play with the cats, but they are not used to her level of energy.  

Her foster Mom reported that in the beginning Leila had a couple of accidents in the house, but she is getting much better.  She is not being crated and has free run of the house.  At the very beginning Leila showed some fear of a leash and collar but she is making progress every day. 

Leila is scheduled for a full physical and surgery (spaying) at the end of this month.  Leila was in season when she came into rescue so we had to postpone her surgery.  She will be ready to go to her forever home after she is spayed.
 

She will make an excellent companion for any dog lover but will be especially appreciated by people who love the Boxer breed.   Leila is full of Boxer energy, extremely lovable, and absolutely beautiful.  She loves to give kisses and have her belly and ears rubbed.  She is good with other dogs and tolerates cats.  Leila will benefit, like other Boxers, from a securely fenced yard.  More updates will come in the days to follow.
