Raisin has been adopted!!
6/20/05 - Update from Foster Mom:
"Raisin has been with me for about two weeks
now and he is beginning to get his energy back after his surgery. He has shown some of his signs of
being a typical boxer puppy, but all in all he is a great pup. He does chew on things if you let him be
and don't give him the time and energy he deserves. He wants to be around you and if you ignore him he
lets you know. He loves playing fetch!
It has been quite humid in Maryland for the past two
weeks so we haven't been able to go out as much as he hopes. He loves eating ice cubes after our walks.
He is beginning to respond to ride, walk, and outside. And this morning he gave me his paw for the first
time!
Raisin had a get together with two labs earlier this week and he couldn't have been happier. This pup is
truly a dog who loves everyone. Even while off the leash (in a fully enclosed fenced in area....of
course ;o) he prefers to stay close to people or dogs rather than venture out. He is a little
clumsy riding in the car but is improving. This boxer boy likes to stand with his front paws
on my center console so he can be close to me instead of sitting in the back seat, however, he is
beginning to notice all the fun stuff he can see while looking out the windows.
Raisin is the best!"
6/15/05 - Update from Foster Mom:
"Oh my goodness what a wonderful dog! When I went to pick him up at the vet's, the girls were very
upset to see Raisin go. I absolutely understand why. For an 8 month old puppy, Raisin is one of the
most well behaved dogs I have ever seen. He is still in the crate during the day while no one is home
but I have seen no signs of chewing on anything except for what he is allowed. He does try to nip
you while playing but it is never hard and he stops when told. He loves to play with all of his toys and
seems to enchant everyone he meets. He rarely jumps up on people and we are working on shake and down
but he sits and stays well. He hasn't had any interaction with other dogs since I have had him but he
does like to charge after the birds outside.
Raisin does not like the wet grass. This boy would much rather do his business on
the street... which was amazing to me since I have never seen a dog squat on pavement when he
can easily be on the grass.
I am also astounded that he has not had any
accidents in the house or in his crate. There have been times when I walk him, expecting that he really
has to go but he doesn't. Raisin walks well on a leash. Occasionally he will walk ahead of
you, however, as soon as you say his name he is right back at your feet looking up at you.
He sleeps on the bed with me but he will also use his dog bed. If he is up on the bed he will let you
sleep in for much longer than you would expect... as long as you can sleep through his snoring. I am
keeping him restricted to the bedroom at night just so he doesn't venture into mischievous behavior.
However, he has yet to whine or stand at the door as if he wants to get out. He likes to be around me
most of the time but does venture through the house to find a bone or one of his favorite toys. Raisin
is a remarkable pup!"

Raisin is an eight-month-old boxer boy that was surrendered to rescue. His family is relocating to Texas and he is being left behind because their new baby has allergies.
Raisin is a playful pup that is used to a stay at home mom and a fenced yard. He lived with children but we are told he play nips when he gets excited, which is not unusual behavior for a boxer at his age. Young toddlers will not be a good match but placement with older children will be considered.
Raisin can be destructive when bored so providing him with lots of activities would be a plus. He is housebroken and loves to play with his toys. His vaccinations have been kept up to date and he is on heartworm preventative. We are having him neutered prior to placement in his foster home.
We will update Raisins page as soon as we learn more about this handsome young boy.
Raisin is a Name
a Boxer dog!
Thank you Tina Lacey for naming Raisin. "“Raisin was the name we chose for our very first boxer. She was given to us by an older couple that had bought her for companionship, but found her high energy more than they could handle. She was our first boxer, and we became enamored with the breed. Her beautiful dark brindle coloring looked just like a raisin!”"
