9/7/06 - Jasper has been adopted!!

6/29/06 - Update from Foster Home:

Jasper is coming out of his shell and learning to play more than we’ve seen since he has been in our home. He still loves dragging his stuffed animals around the house and chasing his tennis ball.

He does not seem to be a “wrestling” dog. We have tried playing this way with him when we are rough-housing with our other Boxer, but Jasper would rather cuddle and be loved more than wrestled.

Jasper is very respectful of our cats (2 three year olds and a 10 year old). He is often found sleeping with one of the three year-olds. He is pretty sedate and quiet in the house but his main focus is the people around him. The other animals seem to be just another extension of his human friends. He loves to curl up on a good chair, couch or bed, and relax the afternoon away.

He is recovering nicely from a minor infection between two of his toes. The vet gave us some medicine to soak Jasper’s paw, in addition to oral antibiotics, and the paw appears to be healing well.

6/5/06 -

Jasper is a complete love muffin.  He is one of the most loving (and lovable) dogs we have ever had the pleasure to meet.  He loves to cuddle and snuggle with people and dogs alike.  If he can’t be laying at your side (or on your lap!!) while you are watching TV, then he plants himself next to you and insists on a good belly rub.

Jasper is very laid back and likes a good petting and neck scratching.  He loves giving doggy-kisses, too!  He is terrific on a leash and loves taking long walks through our neighborhood.  He loves to be outside with human and animal friends to play with and seems to be captivated by the nature around him.  He loves to watch birds fly over him.  Jasper loves playing catch with the Frisbee and tennis balls.

He is slowly (but surely) taking a shining to our cats as we are teaching him to be gentle with them.  He still isn't best friends with them, but he is moving in the right direction.

Jasper is very good about telling us when he needs to use the bathroom.  He has free house roaming privileges at night but chooses to spend them in or at the foot/side of someone’s bed.

Is Three Times The Charm?

Jasper first lost his home in August of last year because of a job transfer.  His family had to move to a new location and they could not bring him along.  He found another home last September and he has been a wonderful dog.  Unfortunately a new grandchild in the home is now starting to crawl and Jasper is uncomfortable with the child crawling near him.  The family has sadly decided that it would be best if Jasper found another family to love him.
Jasper needs a home without young children or cats.  He is very sweet and affectionate, completely housetrained, and good with other dogs.  Please contact us if you can provide Jasper with his new FOREVER home.  We want his third home to be his final home.

9/29/05 - Jasper has been adopted!!

9/19/05 - Update from Foster Mom - During Jasper’s stay we've had a chance to get to know him and some of his behaviors and general personality. Jasper has thoroughly enjoyed playing with my very energetic 3yr old lab mix and has also been respectful of my 8-year-old border collie mix, however, we have found that he does not like cats.

I would say his main desire is to be near his people, either lying at their feet or in their laps. He has a low activity level in the house, exceptional house manners, no destructive behavior, and settles down quite quickly in whatever room we are in. He does enjoy his stuffed toys and playing ball but is not ball crazy, preferring to be patted and fussed over.

Jasper's overall makeup seems to be one of a very people oriented dog is mellow in the house and is delighted to have our attention. In addition he hasn't shown any food issues, will take treats gently from your hand and will sit with other dogs to accept treats. He also knows sit, wait and has an awesome recall (comes running at full tilt when called).

Jasper is a joy!!!

8/5/05 - Jasper is a gorgeous 3 year old Boxer boy whose family is moving to the South and sadly can not take him with them.  He is like a giant lap dog who loves to give kisses to anyone who lets him.  He is good with other dogs, cats and children.  Jasper is a wonderful dog who is a shining example of the Boxer breed.

Below is the fist report from his foster family:

"Jasper slept through the night like an angel on our bed.  Cried when my husband went to work, but we kept him busy this morning.  I got him a 50 ft training lead, and he went to the very end of the lead and did his business as soon as I brought him out.  Then he ran around like a nut and played a little catch. He is now having a very serious nap!!!!!  He seems amazingly well adjusted for such a big change in his life."
