Quincy is a Name a Boxer dog!

11/25/05 - Quincy has been adopted!

11/9/05 - Quincy (AKA Nellie) was initially surrendered to a shelter in North Carolina before being transported to another shelter in New England.  A staff member at the New England shelter recognized what a great dog Quincy is and scooped her up and brought her home. Unfortunately the resident dog did not appreciate the new member of the family.  NBR was then contacted and Quincy was tearfully surrendered to our rescue program.  We suspected that Quincy had difficulty hearing and a Baer hearing test was scheduled.  The test confirmed that Quincy is deaf in one ear and has diminished hearing in her other ear.  Therefore we will only consider placing her in a home that has a securely fenced yard.  She has an appointment to be spayed in 10 days and will be ready to be adopted as soon as she recovers from surgery.

 Below is the report from Quincy’s foster mom:

“Quincy is a four month old white boxer with a spotted ear and a great left hook.  She is currently living with 3 dogs (a Boxer, Rhodesian mix, and a Black Lab mix) and four cats.  She has quickly adapted to long days of wrestling and digging in a mud puddle.  She comes in for a quick refreshing nap, and then is ready for more action.  She is great with the cats, the kids, and with us.  She was originally diagnosed with "selective hearing", but we now know that she has hearing loss.  We are still working on housetraining, but she is starting to show signals when she needs to go out.  She is a very funny, sweet baby.”
