Hans is a Name a Boxer dog!
Thank you Donald Foster for naming Hans. Our beloved Hans was with us for 12 ½ years.  Unfortunately, we had to put him to sleep 1-4-05 because he had a heart condition that was keeping him from having the quality of life that he was accustomed to.  He was very active and adored any type of activity including swimming and boating.  On his last day, he mustered up enough energy to go for one last walk around our yard because it happened to be 50 degrees that day.  The vet came to our home and we laid our Hansie to rest in our backyard near the marsh where he loved to frolic, play and swim.  My wife and I applaud all of your efforts to help these wonderful animals.  Hans was my 5th family Boxer.  He won’t be my last either.  I have been around the Boxer breed since my childhood .”

8/07 - Hans has been adopted!

3/14/06 -  Hans is a handsome 11 month old Boxer who we rescued from a shelter.  Upon meeting him he was very dirty and very scared.  On the drive home he did fairly well, and started to warm up after some treats.  He knows "sit" however after the treats he decided he wanted to sit on our laps.  Hans is a big, beautiful, light brindle boy!  After arriving home we introduced him to our other two boxers, they got along immediately! They played excellent with each other outside (chase, tug of war, etc.).  No signs of aggression at all nor any signs of food aggression.  After playtime it took Hans a couple hours to catch his breath.  I would have to guess that his previous owners didn't have play time for him.  After play time I gave Hans a much needed bath.  He absolutely loved it!

We were told that Hans was surrendered to the shelter by his family due to some issues with submissive urination.  The first 4 hours we had him home with no incidents, then one of the dogs knocked over our lamp.  When this happened Hans had an accident.  I believe with a little love and gentle training this will be quickly cured.  He is a wonderful puppy who obviously has not been given the love and patience that it takes to raise a Boxer.  Be warned that he loves to give tons of sloppy kisses and is definitely a drooler.  Hans will need a fenced yard with someone who is home most of the day. He is crate trained and will do well with other dogs!
