10/30/07 - Zena has been adopted!!!

10/7/07 - Update from new Foster Home:

From the moment we picked up Zena she seemed adjusted to our family.  She is well trained and sits while waiting for her food or to go for a walk.  She has been a welcome addition to our home and does not seem to have any problems meeting new people.

After being with us for just a few days Zena is starting to show her personality a little more.  She greeted me this morning with her little kidney bean dance.  She is a little darling. Zena likes to go for walks and play fetch with her squeeky toy.  If I ask her to "drop it" she will drop her toy so that I can throw it for her.  Zena is a joy to have around and is great company. Zena likes to sleep in my daughter's bed at night...and sleeps through the night.

She is very well behaved while left alone in the house, no accidents or trying to break into the pantry for extra cookies.

She also had a bath yesterday and now smells lovely and clean.

Foster Home Needed!

9/13/07 -

Zena has a zest for life.  This slightly older loving girl is looking for someone to share her golden years.

She is good on leash and loved her recent excursion to the beach.  Zena is very athletic and was not afraid of the waves; she waded in the surf and loved to climb on the large rocks.  She would be a great companion to take on quiet leisurely walks.

Zena is completely housebroken and does not need a crate.  She, as most boxers, loves to ride in the car and sits quietly in the backseat like a little lady enjoying the sights.

Ideally, we would like to see Zena placed with someone who has no other dogs and a low level of household activity.  Zena is very affectionate and would thrive if she was the center of attention.

Zena is very smart.  Once in a while she can be a bit reactive to other dogs, especially on leash, but with the right direction we are sure this quirk can be improved and perhaps eliminated completely.

Overall, this lovely girl is a wonderful companion who will reward your love with a lifetime of joy.

3/14/06 - Zena is a sweet and loveable Boxer.  She loves attention and being with her people. Despite her size, she thinks she is a lap dog.  She is energetic but calms quickly. She loves to play and knows how to fetch.

She was adopted two years ago to a family who already had a boxer; they thought she would be a good companion to their dog.  However both dogs like to be the boss and have gotten into occasional squabbles.  The family now has an infant and they are afraid that if the dogs should get into a fight that their child may accidentally get injured.  Although Zena has been gentle with the families 7-month-old child, she does not have a lot of exposure to other kids, so we are looking for a home without young children.  Zena can also be fearful of some men but, when offered a cookie, she warms up quickly.

Zena loves going on walks but is not perfectly leash trained.  She is trained on an electric fence and enjoys spending time outside in the sun with her family.  The family is sad that Zena needs to find a new home, and they said they would definitely keep her if they did not already have a dog.
