Buster
is a Name A Boxer dog!
Thank you Jessica Dossa for naming Buster.
“I have a two-year-old
male Boxer at home, named Buster, who is one of the loves of my life. I
wanted the next NAME A BOXER to have this name because it is so near and
dear to my heart.”

adopted!!

Buster has been in his foster home for several weeks
and is doing better each day. His respiratory and urinary tract infections
are gone and he just tested negative for worms. He was also neutered and
has gained 6 lbs. He is filling out very nicely. With all of these pesky
things gone Buster is becoming very comfortable in his foster home.
He has started to play with his foster brother and
sister as well as the neighbor’s dogs. He has unlimited energy and has
just started to figure out how much fun it can be to just snuggle and be
loved. Buster loves to play fetch and other fun games. Rides in the car
are also a favorite.
Buster needs a little treat to get in his kennel but
once there he amuses himself with a squeaky toy and his rubber kong. His
favorite is a boxing glove he carries around.
This handsome boy needs a permanent home where
people can continue to show him what it feels like to be loved. He
deserves the life that he missed out on. So, if you are willing to open
your heart and home to a loyal, energetic, and often comical little boy,
Buster is the one for you.
Let’s make this next year so much better then his
last.

BUSTER - A Dim Past, A Bright
Future
Buster is a very handsome 1 1/2 to 2 yr old boxer
with another sad story. He was found as a stray and was taken to a
high-kill shelter which is out of NBR’s usual rescue area. We were asked
to save Buster because all of the local rescues were full. We were told
that Buster had an upper respiratory infection, hookworms, and whipworms,
all of which is known to be contagious to dogs. He was scheduled to be
killed within the week. We scrambled to find an available foster home
without other dogs. All of our foster homes were full, but we couldn’t
bear to leave Buster to die. Fortunately, one of our wonderful foster
moms (Jackie) volunteered to take Buster in. She said she could keep him
separate from her two dogs and her current foster Diamond. We cannot
thank her enough for her compassion. Jackie is Buster’s hero.
Buster is underweight (you could count his ribs when
he arrived to his foster home). Within 24 hours he was taken to see the
vet for a complete exam, bloodwork, and other tests. This poor boy was
confirmed to have a severe upper respiratory infection and the
hookworms and whipworms. He was also diagnosed with kennel cough, a
urinary tract infection, and was infested with fleas. He was put on two
different antibiotics for the various infections and has started his
deworming. Once he gains some weight and recovers from his medical issues
we will schedule his neuter surgery.
Buster has been in his foster home for five days
now. The fleas are gone and he is feeling much better overall. He loves
to be pet and to play with his new stuffed animal toys. He knows how to
sit when asked and to give you his paw. We are working on more. He has
been kept separate from his foster brother and sisters (because of the
infections). We cannot confirm how he plays with other dogs, however,
when he sees other dogs at a distance he wags his tail and playbows. He
pulls a little on a leash until he has done his business and then he walks
just fine. He also has to learn his new name since he couldn't tell us
his old one.
Buster’s life in the past was obviously not a good
one, but his future is promising to be bright.
We are also in need of donations to cover Buster’s
medical care. Whatever you can do to help would be greatly
appreciated.
