KAYA is a Name A Boxer dog

Thank you Julia Elingboe for naming Kaya.

"Kaya was our Rottwieler who died Feb 4, 2005. She died with her head in my lap, my husband next to her, and my sister-in-law at her feet, the day before my second human daughter was born. (They missed each other by less than 24 hours) I got Kaya from a Rottie rescue when she was about 14 months old, and she lived to the ripe old age of 10 1/2. When she was younger and spry, she loved to hike (Mt. Toby in Leverett, MA was her favorite place). She was an expert swimmer, fetcher, and tennis ball destroyer. She was patient with kids, helpful in the kitchen during dinner preparation, and she had favorite songs she would sing to. She was also very instrumental in launching me and my husband's courtship.”

KAYA IS A LOVER WHO IS LOOKING FOR AFFECTION

Kaya is an approximately 2 year old sweet boxer girl who was found roaming the streets.  We were contacted by animal control who asked for our assistance with her placement.   She will need to be placed with a new foster family because their older female boxer is unhappy having Kaya in her home.

Below is a few words from Kaya...

“Since I have been in my foster home, they have learned some things about me.  I love people…my foster mom nicknamed me Velcro.

There are four other dogs and 4 cats in this home.  The dogs and I were getting along well, but recently the older female boxer in the house has decided she is not to keen with my presence. She has growled at me a few times, and this scares me, so I react.  The cats are getting to like me but are not quite used to me yet. It does not take much to distract me from the cats though.

I am crated at feeding time, and when the crate door is open I go in for a quick catnap because my belly is still a little sore from my spay surgery.  I am housebroken and love to ride in the car.

I know sit very well, but have not been asked to do anything else yet. I walk well on leash for potty duties and exercise.  I am also quiet in the house…no barking. I do like to sit on your lap, mom says I am too big to be a lap dog.  She needs a bigger lap.

We will update very soon.  Oh…I almost forgot.  I will also need a securely fenced yard with a fairly high fence.  I like to take off and explore the neighborhood and, since I obviously have gotten lost in the past, I don’t want to lose my family again.

I am sad that I can’t stay here, and my foster mom and dad are upset as well, but they know what is best.”
