Stewie was a stray who
found himself in the care of
animal control.
When we received the call
asking for our help, we were
told Stewie was very timid
and would not even come out
of his kennel when they were
cleaning his run. Shy
dogs seem to blossom with
our gentle approach and we
did not hesitate to agree to
take him into our rescue
program.
When our volunteers
arrived at the shelter
Stewie did not hesitate to
come to them for a treat and
walked freely out of his
kennel and into a new life.
He warmed up to them
immediately and never looked
back.
He has been checked by
our vet who determined he
was about a year old.
He was treated for a slight
upper respiratory infection
as well as an
urinary tract infection.
His heart and lungs sounded
good and he appears to be in
good health. Luckily
he was also heart worm
negative
Below is the first report
from Stewie’s foster mom:
“Stewie is a gorgeous
small brindle and white
neutered male that came to
us from a local shelter.
He is doing well and is the
happiest little boy.
He has adjusted to our home
really well after just five
days here.
Stewie has been wonderful
with everyone he has met.
He has claimed me as his
mom; I can't go anywhere
without him, and he thinks
he is a lap dog. He
used the doggy door right
away but after a few times
in/out the plastic hit him
in the bum and he became
petrified of the door, so we
removed the plastic doors
and replaced them with
screen and he now uses the
doggy door like a pro.
He loves to go for walks
and he is not afraid of
people or dogs. He
walks well on a leash and is
fine in the house.
However, Stewie is having
some urine incontinence
issues, no doubt due to a
urinary tract infection
which we are treating.
He also has some submissive
urinating that we are
working on as well.
He is energetic so
another dog that will play
with him would be ideal.
Stewie really enjoys and
does well with a fenced in
yard that he can access
during the day on his own
whenever he wants.
There is nothing but great
things to say about this
boy.”
