We were contacted by a
woman who was trying to help
her co-worker place his
son’s dog. Foxy
belonged to a young
couple who lived in an
apartment with a new baby
and they had become
overwhelmed with their
situation. Foxy was
spending extended periods of
time in a crate with little
or no attention. The
woman who contacted us was
afraid Foxy was going to end
up in the wrong hands and
convinced the son to
surrender Foxy to NBR.
Foxy is not yet 1 year
old. She came into
rescue underweight and was
covered in fleas which were
immediately treated.
She was given a nice bath by
her foster mom in addition
to a healthy meal.
Needless to say, Foxy felt
much better.
We are scheduling a vet
appointment for Foxy to
assess her condition before
being spayed, updated on
shots, heartworm tested and
whatever else is needed.
The following is the
Initial report from her
foster mom:
“Foxy has been with us a
little over a week and she
is very sweet. She is
very good in the house, and
likes to ride in the car.
She has been to a few soccer
games already and gets a
little excited because she
wants to play, but each game
she is getting a little
better. She also went
to a horse show with us
where she thought she could
play with the “large dogs“.
Foxy is a big snuggler.
She either likes to sleep
with someone or in her dog
bed which is next to mine.
When she goes outside she is
overwhelmed by every noise
and is easily excited.
She needs some direction
when walking on lead but we
are working on it. She
will come when called and
has learned to sit. We
are also working on down;
she gets no attention if she
is jumping. We are
feeding Foxy in a crate so
we do not have any issues
with our current dog at meal
time.
She weighed 40 lbs when
we picked her up and has
since gained two pounds.
She has had a few accidents
in the first several days
but I think that was her
body getting used to a
steady supply of food.
Foxy is a great dog!”
