OTIS
is a
Name A
Boxer
dog
Thank you Barry and Krissy
for naming Otis
“What
can I say about
Otis...he was a rescue
from the Katrina
disaster that found his
way to my sisters home.
He was here with us for
way too short a time. He
loved everything and
everyone. Unfortunately,
Otis suffered from a
back condition which cut
his time, here with us,
way too short. I was
hoping that some lucky
puppy could take his
name and carry on the
love, and drool... :)
(he was a
St. Bernard),
Otis shared with
everyone.…”

Update from
Otis's Foster Mom:
"Otis is
a very confident
puppy. He is having
a great time with
his foster sister
and is learning
quickly about
appropriate play.
When he first came
to us, he was a bit
of a challenge as he
seemed to lack some
basic
puppy
socialization skills. The
poor guy has had a
rough start and
needed some
direction.
We do
not know how many
brothers or
sisters Otis had or
even how old Otis
was when he left his
mother, however, we
do know that
litter-mates and
their mothers teach
puppies appropriate
socialization
behaviors and
responses; Otis
seemed to be lacking
in these areas but
we are working on
it.
I am sure with
some consistency,
patience, and TLC,
Otis will become a
great addition to a
caring family.
In the
meantime, Otis is
learning quickly and
having
alot
of fun."

PUPPIES ARE NOT FOR
EVERYONE
Adorable 12 week old
Otis was purchased by an
elderly man from a
backyard breeder.
Needless to say, a
boxer puppy was
not a good match.
Otis was not given
enough outlets for his
puppy energy and the
neighbors were
complaining about the
noise. This cute
pup can be very vocal.
Otis lived in a
senior citizen community
for only three days.
The gentleman was told
to get the dog out; he
was not welcome.
The breeder refused to
take Otis back so he
dropped him off at a
local shelter.
The shelter kept Otis
for two weeks before
they gave us a call.
We were very impressed
with this small shelter.
They could have easily
placed Otis, however,
they did not feel there
was a suitable family
that came forward for
this over active puppy.
Everyone who came in
to adopt wanted to take
Otis home, but the
shelter staff did not
want to let him go with
people who did not have
boxer experience. They
told us they were not
familiar with the breed
and asked for our help.
The shelter manager
had taken a special
interest in this little
boy and had started him
with some
clicker training.
We want to thank the
shelter employees for
keeping a watchful eye
on this little boy.
We will be updating
his page with a report
from his foster home
within the next few
days.
