MAGNUS is a Name A Boxer dog

Thank you to the Karen Major for naming Magnus.

“I am always so sad to see new dogs but so happy to know that your organization will find them good homes. I hope it is OK to name dogs after dogs that are still alive and well. I would love to name your newest addition after our beloved Magnus. He is 5 1/2 and he, and his sister Roxy, are the reason we love this breed. He is silly, full of energy and a big ball of love. One look in those big, expressive eyes and you know why Boxers are the best! Thanks for the opportunity to name a dog J

11/20/09: Magnus IS LOOKING for his best friend

Magnus is the best boxer!!! Only one issue…NO CATS. He is not being fostered with another dog, however, in his two previous foster homes he did well with other dogs. We feel he would do well with or without canine companionship. One thing is for sure….he loves his people. He loves to give kisses and will follow you around. He is also a couch potato.
Magnus walks well on a leash with a harness. He does enjoy a long hike and is just as happy riding in the car. Magnus weighs 65 pounds but he is a short and stocky boy. Magnus has the run of the house and does not get into any trouble. He is currently left alone six hours during a normal work day. He will sit in front of the door when he needs to go out and is completely housebroken.
He will jump if he gets overly excited, like most boxers, when he meets you. Children ten years or younger, would not be appropriate; he might have the tendency to knock them down. We do feel he is closer to five years of age since he has plenty of spunk. A fenced yard would be a plus.
Magnus would be a great addition to any home. He is everything you would want in a boxer.

10/1/01: Needs foster home

MAGNUS NARROWLY ESCAPES BEING KILLED ON THE HIGHWAY

Magnus was found on a busy highway running with his leash.  Lucky for him a good Samaritan stopped, opened their car door, and he jumped right in. They took him to the town animal control officer where he stayed for 14 days.

We were contacted by animal control after no one claimed him.  Magnus has been seen by our vet and was brought up to date on all his vaccines. Luckily he is heartworm negative.  He appears to be in good health and is already neutered.

The vet estimated his age to be between 5-7 years old and is he is definitely full of life.  Magnus is one strong, handsome boy.  He is full of boxer kisses and wiggles.  He is a bit of a jumper, which I think may subside a bit once he settles in, but, as you know boxers, well, they jump.

We will post more information once we get to know him a little better.
