"Ada was a sweet girl who was charming and loyal and met each and every individual on their own level. She had a way of putting a smile on your face when you were sad or sick. We want to pass along her name and her mischievous, charming, & loyal personality so someone else can have a best friend like we did. This donation is made for Caroline Thompson & Barry & Sharon Meunie

07/08/10: An update from Ada's foster parents...

"Ada is doing very well. the medication we got from our vet for Ada's ear infection seems to have done the trick. she isn't scratching her ear at all now. She still scratches her fur sometime but not much at all; Ada's allergy pills she takes everyday seem to work very well. She eats her food really good. she really likes her egg every morning that I mix in her breakfast. Ada also likes her yogurt that I mix in her food for supper. but I think she likes the egg more. she likes her dog snacks we get from her vet and her dog bones and her dog ice cream and her peanut butter. in short she loves to eat. Ada likes to go for her walks but when its very hot I only take her for an early morning walk so she won't get over heated. Ada likes to ride in the car but its been to hot lately. except yesterday and today were very nice so I took her for a nice ride We try to keep her as cool as we can in the hot weather. we always have the air conditioner and the fans going  we also wipe her down with a cold face cloth during the day. she seems to like that. Ada's completely taken over the house. she thinks the couch belongs to her. last night i was watching the ball game and she came over and looked at me so I called to up so she could lay down but she wouldn't get up until I moved over to the other side so she could have her regular spot, is she spoiled or what!  this morning she was sleeping on our bed with Joanne. we have a big bed but Ada was practically sleeping on Joanne's  legs. she likes to be close. she,s very good when we go out grocery shopping or to the store. we don't have to worry about leaving her and our cat skye alone together. they get along very well."

3/01/10: A Noble and Regal Lady Fit for a King or Queen

We were contacted by another rescue organization that we have worked with before regarding a gentle senior boxer girl that is between 8 and 10 years old.  Sweet Ada was dumped at an animal shelter by her family.  Although we have no available foster homes, we could not leave this poor soul alone in a shelter to die.  We had to take her into our rescue program.

Poor Ada was used as a backyard breeding dog all her life.  She is underweight and probably has rarely, if ever, been seen by a vet.  Of course, she is not spayed.  We were told that “she is in rough condition and needs medical attention”.

Ada went to visit the vet today.  She weighed in at 56 lbs and needs to gain several pounds.  The doctor said that Ada looked pretty good considering her past.  Luckily she was negative for heartworm and other tick borne diseases.  She does have an inflamed ear that will be treated with antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory/topical medication.  She also has a yeast infection in between her paw pads which need to be addressed as well.  We are waiting for the test results of a full blood profile and urinalysis which we expect to receive in the next 24 hours.

Ada is good with other dogs, cats and kids.  She is a wonderful old girl that is great in the house, totally housebroken and very friendly.  Ada is a great sleeper and just loves to hang around.  She is in immediate need of a foster home.  Please….Can you help?
