Chaos was surrendered by
his owner who no longer
had the time or the
finances to keep him in
the family. He was
brought into our
surrender program and
was overdue for all
vaccinations and routine
medical care. His
initial medical history
showed a previous leg
fracture that had only
been splinted.
We immediately made
an appointment to have
Chaos see one of the
trusted veterinarians
who treat our
rescue dogs.
Chaos received a
thorough exam which
included his
inoculations, heart worm
test (negative) and
within days was
neutered.
We found out from his
previous owners that
Chaos was confined all
the time and was, as one
might expect, extremely
rambunctious. No
surprise….boxers are
high energy and need to
have lots of exercise
with plenty of
interaction. Since
his foster family took
him in they have worked
on this diligently and
he is doing much better.
Chaos is a people dog.
He loves attention and
thrives on affection.
Here is a recent
report from his foster
mom:
“I picked up Chaos, a
male flashy fawn, from
the vet hospital after
his neuter surgery.
He is your typical one
year old boxer full of
high energy and lots of
wiggles, jumping and
kisses. Chaos rode
well in the car.
He met with our (almost)
nine year old female
boxer Zoe. They
got along great.
All Chaos wanted to do
was play, play and play.
He also met the rest of
our family; my husband
and our son. Chaos
took very well to the
both of them.
Chaos loves to play
and have lots of
attention. He's a
leaner as well. He
enjoys being the center
of attention and is a
giver as well as a
receiver; receiving lots
of rubs on his belly and
returning the love by
giving lots of kisses.
Chaos was left alone in
a room all the time
(according to what we
were told) thus any
attention he gets he
truly loves.
Chaos needs training
on his pulling during
his walks. He is
very interested in all
things going on around
him when we are walking.
I've purchased the
‘Premier No Pull
Harness’ which has
helped with his pulling.
He does not seem to have
had many walks in the
past or association with
being outside often.
This pup loves going to
the dog park. He
craves playing with
other dogs and does so
very well. Chaos
gets ‘upset’ when a dog
leaves, especially the
dog who is playing with
him. Again, he is
obviously starved for
attention and social
activity.
Chaos is a true joy
to have in our home.
He and my son love to
play together, keep each
other very occupied, and
they have lots of fun.
Chaos has no aggression
with food, toys, dogs or
people of any age.
Chaos is a true
boxer puppy full
of energy, love and joy.
He loved playing in the
snow we had recently.
He would place his whole
face in the snow and
then come up covered in
the white stuff.
After having Chaos in
our home for several
days we had a terrible
scare. Chaos had
to be rushed to the
hospital after repeated
vomiting. We were
concerned he might have
some type of blockage
and we were not taking
any chances. The
doctor gave him a
lengthy examination, and
took barium x-rays.
They were not able to
clearly identify that
there was a blockage but
he definitely had some
type of gastric
irritation. They
treated his symptoms and
watched him carefully
for several days before
they determined he was
going to be OK.
Luckily he did not need
surgery.
Unfortunately that
was not the end of his
visit to the vet.
As Chaos was recovering
at the Hospital from his
gastric distress he had
a freak accident.
Chaos fractured his
pelvis. According
to the hospital staff,
Chaos chased a Hospital
cat to the second floor.
The agile cat ran up to
a five foot ledge and
Chaos tried to follow
the cat. He scaled
up the five foot wall
ledge, and fell down to
the first floor below
before anyone could
catch up to him.
Doctors stabilized
Chaos and took multiple
radiographs but the
x-rays did not reveal
any definitive damage.
The x-rays were reviewed
by an orthopedic
specialist who also did
not see a problem,
however Chaos was still
limping. The
doctor decided to
have two radiology
specialists take a
closer look and they
both confirmed that
Chaos had a slight
pelvic fracture.
According to the
doctors, Chaos’ fracture
should heal on it’s own
with strict crate rest
and he should not have
any foreseeable problems
or issues. He stayed
under the vet’s care for
several weeks and is now
back home.
When I picked up
Chaos from the Hospital
the second time he was
very excited to see me
and I'm sure to come
home. My son was
missing him terribly.
Daily he would ask for
Chaos and questioned
when he was coming home.
We explained to him that
Chaos had a big booboo
and would be back home
soon. When Chaos
comes home he would need
to stay in his crate for
lots of rest so that his
booboo on his pelvis
would heal. My son
said that he would be
very gentle with Chaos
and help him get better
fast so they could play
together soon.
Chaos is resting well
and is so happy to be
home. He still
would love to play and
be more interactive with
my son, my boxer Zoe, my
husband and myself.
He loves getting loved
on and petted. He
craves his attention and
giving his kisses.
Time will help heal his
fracture but in the
meantime we keep Chaos
company when he goes for
short bathroom breaks
and we have him next to
us while we are all in
the room together.
We will be following
up with his Doctor in a
few weeks. At that
time, they will take
more x-rays to make sure
his fracture is healing
properly and then I will
receive his next course
of home care
instructions.”
