12/16/11: MARIO IS ADOPTED
!!!!!
12/08/11: A Stable
Environment Has Made All The
Difference For Mario
Mario
is one of the best non-boxer
dogs that NBR has ever had
the pleasure to rescue. He
is a total sweetheart and
VERY affectionate. He gets
along with every dog and cat
in his new foster home. He
loves to sit on your lap but
always asks to come up
first.
When he first came into the
home Mario would only sleep
in his open crate and crawl
under his blanket; after a
couple of weeks he
acclimated himself to the
“big boy” bed and loves to
share space under the covers
with his foster mommy and
daddy.
Mario is thrilled to be able
to play in a fenced yard
which is obviously something
he never had before coming
into rescue. He was
initially hesitant to be
loose in the yard but now
enjoys running full board
and knows that he can do so
freely. He is a great kisser
too.
Mario has a great appetite
and his favorite treat is
raw baby carrots. This boy
can keep himself occupied
playing with his toys by
himself or with his favorite
foster brother. He is
totally housebroken (not one
accident) and will gently
scratch at the door when he
wants to go out. Mario is a
catch and will bring joy to
any family that adopts him.
11/18/11:
Mario is settling into his
new foster home nicely and
doing excellent with all the
other animals. He is a sweet
little man with a real
affectionate heart. An
update from his foster mom
coming soon.

NEEDS IMMEDIATE FOSTER HOME
9/23/11:
Mario Was Abandoned And
Faced A Questionable
Fate
One of our
volunteers saw an urgent
posting on Craig’s List
about a young 8 pound
chihuahua mix. Mario was
being offered for free
and needed an immediate
home.
When we
contacted the person
that posted the ad we
were told they needed to
find him a home that
same day. She said that
her Condo Association
did not allow her to
have a dog, and Animal
Control was called to
take the dog away.
Mario had only been
living with her for a
short time…a week or so.
She got him from a
person who also posted
this poor dog on Craig’s
list. This other person
only had Mario for three
weeks. Apparently Mario
had previously been
abandoned in an empty
apartment.
Our
intention when we called
about Mario was to
explain our concerns
regarding posting a dog
on Craig’s List. It was
obvious to us at this
point that this poor dog
had been bounced around
and we began fearing for
his safety. We needed to
remove him quickly and
found a very “temporary”
foster home. They went
to get Mario that very
day.
We will
schedule a medical
appointment for Mario as
soon as possible. He
came with no medical
history and will need a
full workup (including
heartworm, blood test,
fecal, inoculations
etc.) and neuter
surgery.
We are
looking for an adult
only home (since we have
no significant history).
Our experience is that
he has no issues with
female dogs but does
with male dogs, however,
that could change after
he is neutered.
Once Mario realizes he
has some stability in
his life I am sure he
will be a great
companion. Please help
Mario…he needs you!
