12/27/11: Rescue Has
Provided Jada A Promising
Future
Jada
is a beautiful 16 week old
female boxer who was
surrendered by her family.
They initially purchased her
from a questionable
"breeder" who had taken Jada
away from her mother at only
4 weeks old. She was also
the only pup in the litter
and did not receive proper
socialization. In addition,
she was infested with
whipworms.
Once Jada was in her new
home, the family quickly
realized that their other
two boxers were having a
hard time adjusting to a
puppy who had so much to
learn. Her interacting
skills were poor and her
fellow canines were not
taking well towards the
constant friction building
between them.
The family knew that
Jada was not thriving in
their environment; they felt
a careful matching process
would offer Jada a better
life and reached out to NBR.
When we heard Jada's story
we arranged for her to go to
one of our foster homes that
have two very well adjusted
and tolerant boxers. Her new
foster parents also have the
ability to socialize Jada
with new people and other
dogs every day....exactly
what she needs.
We
applaud the tremendous job
that is being done by Jada's
foster family (two and four
legged). They have helped
this puppy, who was once
scared and reactive,
overcome her fears and
become a more well rounded
canine. Jada will need a new
family who can continue to
socialize her with people
and other animals.
A
note from Jada's foster
family:
"All it
takes is one look at Jada -
and you're in love. She is
absolutely gorgeous, and
she's smart - she'll do
incredibly well in a
puppy/obedience class. She
already knows,” sit,"
"wait," and "leave it," and
we've just discovered that
if you put your hand out
when she's sitting, she'll
give you her paw.
Jada was timid at
first with people and other
dogs. She was unsure of
everything - car rides,
other cars passing by, leash
walks, loud noises, sudden
movements, new people and
dogs etc., but once she got
settled in and was exposed
to a variety of positive
interactions, all of that
seemed to go away. She's a
little underweight, but
should quickly put on a few
pounds now that she is clear
of whipworms (and we've
increased the amount of her
food).
She now gets
along great with our two
Boxers (one male 11-year-old
and one female 3-year-old).
She loves playing with toys,
either with another dog or
by herself. She has a great
relationship with her crate
and will sometimes walk in
there to take a nap. She
loves to snuggle up to us
and our dogs. She sleeps
through the night with no
problem. When she has to go
out she'll wait by the door
to the yard. No accidents in
the house at all!
Jada has now
learned to love EVERYTHING!
She loves to play fetch! She
loves her food and her
snacks. She sits in the
kitchen and watches you
prepare her meals very
patiently. Her new favorite
treat is cucumber slices.
She loves to go on walks and
is great on leash. She loves
car rides. She is just a
love.
Jada is too
unbelievably cute. We keep
joking that she's a
Boxer/Gremlin/Monkey hybrid
:-) We're having a lot of
fun fostering her. I think
she would do really well in
a home with another dog(s).
It takes her just a minute
to warm up to new dogs, but
once she does, all she wants
to do is play. I think the
two dogs in her previous
home were constantly
growling and going at her.
Now that she's with our dogs
who aren't reactive, she is
wonderful with them. She's
also doing incredibly well
with the new dogs and people
that she's meets everyday.
Jada is a
very special young Boxer.
Her forever family will be
so lucky to have such a
fabulous puppy to call their
own."
