10/20/11: This
sweetheart is
ADOPTED!!!!
10/03/11:
Kingston is a Product of
Divorce
We received a call
from a family who
previously adopted a
boxer from NBR asking
for our help. They had
taken in a second boxer
that they had received
unexpectedly from a
woman. Their son was
home from college and
working at his summer
job at a pet shop. The
woman had come into the
store with her boxer and
asked if anyone wanted
her dog named Kingston.
She was getting a
divorce and had to find
a home for the dog that
day or else she was
taking him to the
closest shelter.
The son could not let
that happen and took
Kingston home in hopes
that their current
boxer, Kade, would be
happy to have a friend.
Unfortunately, that was
not the case. Their dog
did not want to share
her family’s attention
and would not let
Kingston play with her
toys. Kade was not about
to let Kingston join her
family and retaliated by
starting fights. The
family tried their best
for one month to settle
the altercations but the
fights escalated. Sadly
they knew it would be
best for everyone to
find Kingston another
home.
Other
people expressed an
interest in adopting
Kingston, however, the
family thought it would
be best to have him
placed by NBR. Since
they had gone through
the process of adopting
a boxer from us
themselves they knew
that we would find the
best home. Kingston is
two years old, neutered
and VERY affectionate.
We do feel he would be
OK with another
compatible dog if
introductions were done
slowly and properly. He
is a handsome brindle
boy with a docked tail
and natural ears.
Kingston knows a few
tricks; “speak”, “sit”
and “give me your paw”.
He is used to sleeping
on the
furniture/couch/family
beds. Playing with a
ball in a fenced yard
having fun is a favorite
activity. He does well
on a leash as well. He
has no problem letting
you clean his ears and
he loves affection. He
is used to eating from
raised dishes and is a
good eater. He doesn't
swim but he enjoys going
into a pool and sitting
on the first step with
his paws in the water.
Kingston loves the car
and is a great co-pilot.
Kingston is truly a
wonderful dog and a
great catch
