01/24/12: Shazsta is ADOPTED
!!!!!!
12/08/11: Shazsta Is One Of
Many Dogs Displaced Due To
The Economy
This cute little boxer's
name is Shazsta and she is 4
years old. Her family
brought her to a Shelter
with their other boxer
because they could no longer
afford to care for them. Her
sister was adopted, however,
Shazsta remained at the
shelter until we were asked
if we could help her.
Shazsta is currently in
her new foster home and
slowly adjusting to the new
surroundings as well as her
foster brother. We were told
she is good with cats and
that does seem to ring true.
Below
is a report from Shazsta's
foster mom:
“Shazsta
is starting to show her
boxer personality. She got a
chance to spend a few hours
away from the house. She
went to the ball park and
actually started to play and
run. She wants you to throw
the ball then chases it, but
keeps on going right past it
every time. Since she did
live with a cat, the cat at
a friend's house she visited
wasn't even looked at by
her.
She plays with
her front paws flying in the
air. She tries to initiate
play with my boxer Brendan
by rearing up on her hind
legs and placing her paws on
his neck, which he takes
offense to. So we have been
limiting their play together
until they get more
comfortable with one
another.
The dog at
my friend's house growled at
her and she just backed
away. She's gained some
weight; not sure how much
since I don't have a scale
but her hips don't show as
much as before. She even
eats slower and doesn't
lunge at a treat if she
drops it but she still
thinks she can take
Brendan's treat away if he
hasn't eaten it yet.
A big break through - I can
jog with both of them and
even take both in the same
car. Shazsta rides in the
front and Brendan rides in
the back. She likes to be
first and pulls, especially
when we first start out, but
it is much easier for me
being able to take them
together. Shazsta was
obviously stressed when she
first arrived but I am happy
that her nub has started to
wag."
