Pluto is a three year old lab/shepherd cross. She was found wandering the streets and was rescued by a well-meaning couple. Unfortunately, these people, while well intentioned, could not provide a proper home. By that point they had taken in 8 dogs and Pluto was severely attacked by one of the other dogs. She was brought to the veterinary hospital, where my daughter, worked for treatment. Her head, ear and legs were covered with deep puncture wounds. She was treated and sent home with care instructions. Several days later she was brought back to the veterinary hospital because her wounds had become infected. It turns out that the owners had decided that they couldn't keep her and had locked her in a mud room while they waited for a shelter to take her. By that point Pluto was afraid of everyone and everything. She was also cage shy. The only one she responded to was my daughter so she tended to Pluto's needs. Rather than having her locked in the mud room until shelter space became available my daughter brought her home.

Pluto has now been with us for a year. She is happy and healthy. She has totally gotten over her fear of people and is wonderful with our small dogs. She is housebroken, well mannered and has never damaged anything.

Unfortunately, we can't keep her. We live in a condominium and aside from having more dogs than we should Pluto needs more time to run in a yard. We want her to got to a home were she can be loved and cared for. She is wonderful with people and other dogs. She would do best in a home without small children because she can might accidentally bump a small child down in play.
