03/23/04 - Zeus Jr. Update
Zeus is doing just great in his foster home, but he'd be happy to find his way into a more permanent home soon. He has been a joy to have around here, he gets along well with our older female (who has at least 20 pounds on him), and he's great with our two cats. He is still small, about 42 pounds at last measure, and his health is just excellent. I know that there's someone out there looking for a relatively young male who is just beautiful, well behaved, and cute as heck. He does this little "chompy" thing when I give him a treat; he looks like an old toothless man trying to chew a steak. It's a very funny thing to watch. Zeus Jr. will make a great addition to your home. Give him a chance to melt your heart like he did to us here in his foster home... 2/23/04 - Zeus JR
"This little guy might be the most ridiculous surrender
in history. He's a fawn, natural-eared, neutered boy, about four years
old. He is one of the smallest males I've ever seen; perhaps the runt of
the litter. He is between 40 and 45 pounds. He appears to be in excellent
health. He has a wonderful disposition like most boxers, but he's so small
that he actually can lay in your lap, which he proceeded to do after being
in our foster home for about an hour. His owners surrendered him because
they had a baby (1-year old) and they said he growled at the child. While I
can believe almost anything about a dog, and don't doubt that this guy may
have growled, I have a hard time believing the owners couldn't have
controlled the situation with such a good-natured boy. He appears to have
been the only pet in the house, as he is pretty indifferent to his foster
sister, who is a year and a half older, but about 25 pounds heavier. He
does not have a sense of "play" with her, which may be attributable to being
the only dog in the house. He is curious about our two cats, but only to
smell them and get at their food. There is no animosity towards them at
all. We've only had him here for two days, but he was alone in the house
for several hours the first day and had absolutely no problems. His
paperwork says he is house-trained and knows basic commands, which seems
true. It's just hard to imagine someone giving up such a good, loving, and
wonderful pet. He has a Pennsylvania tattoo that will need to be
re-registered when he finds his home. I would recommend a home for him
where he is only pet and to be safe, it should be free of small children,
but I believe over some time, he would be fine in a multiple-dog and/or cat
home. He's perfectly fine here with our domestic zoo, but I'm sure he would
be most comfortable being an "only child." If you're looking for a
well-trained , beautiful young male boxer to share your life with you, this
could easily be the guy. Oh, and the name Zeus doesn't at all fit him, but
he responds well to it." |
