1/08/04 - Update Cashew, known to all as Cash, has settled right in - he's a typical 1 year old with lots of energy and the sweetest disposition. Cash has proven himself to be a very quick study, and already has learned that sitting is the best way to get my attention. He sits for his food, he sits to get his leash put on, he sits when he wants loving, he's just a sitting fool! Cash is housebroken and can hold out for approximately 6 hours. He loves to play ball and will bring the ball back as many times as you can throw it. He is wonderful when left alone - touching nothing in the house. He is not crate trained and really does not need one. Cash would be great with older kids - - he has no idea that he's a big boy and since he's young, his enthusiasm would bowl little ones over. All in all, Cash is young, energetic, smart and as good natured as they come - he's an all around family man that's just looking for a family. 1/04/04 - Cashew SOMETIMES YOU FEEL LIKE A NUT!! Well, meet Cashew - NBR's latest victim of impulse pet store shopping. Cashew is a typical 1 year old boxer boy - full of energy and life. After his family found out 'how much is that doggie in the window' they soon realized that a boxer takes work and training, neither of which did they apparently attempt. Their answer to correct their mistake? Cashew ended up in a high kill shelter. We picked Cashew up today and what a love bug this boy is! After meeting the resident dogs and cat - which he was fine with - Cashew has been wondering around the house investigating every new thing he sees. And what a smart boy! Because he is high energy and not fearful, we've already started to divert his attention into a few simple commands - and he's already beginning to understand 'sit.' Enroll this boy in a good training program and I have no doubt he'll be the star of this class. We'll continue to work with Cashew and give you updates as soon as we get to know Cashew better.
