"
Cindy & Rocco"

1. To be able to see outside when they heard "foreign" noises.
2. To watch for us to come home.
We did have someone let them out at lunch time so we are confident they can stay alone for 4 hours without supervision.
My 87 year old grandfather delivered some mail (like he does every Thursday). They barked at him until he got the door open. He said after that they wiggled and were happy to see him. My grandfather says they are very well behaved.
They continue to display there comfort around people and their ability to learn. Greg clipped Cindy's nails with ease. Rocco allowed Greg to clip his back nails but showed him he would not allow him to clip his front. Greg did continue to touch his front paws and managed to file those nails. We will continue to work with Rocco to make him more trusting.
They are definitely learning the house rules. We have given them one couch to lay on and since then they have not tried to get on any of the other furniture. Even with that couch if you tell them "off", they get off immediately. Cindy has already learned she is not to be in the kitchen when we are eating. She will go into the other room and lay down. Rocco has to be corrected 2 or 3 times but is getting the message. He sits at the door to the kitchen so he can see us.
Rocco definitely has a fondness for people food. Coming from a home with several children, I am sure he was feed all sorts of things. He has tried to get up on the counter for food, but not while you are in the room. For now, we do not leave any food on the counter if we are not home.
These two dogs have so much love to give. They just need the right family to give it to.

These are definitely family dogs. In their previous home they were allowed to sit on the furniture and slept on the owners bed. We are training them to stay "off". A simple "off" is all they need and back on the floor they go.
Rocco is very sure of himself. He desperately wants to belong. He follows his foster father around and is rarely more than 5 feet from him. Rocco is a great listener. He knows "sit", "come" and "off". The profile sheet from the shelter says that he knows "stay" and "down", but he has not demonstrated them yet. He is playful and energetic. He is vocal when he plays but has not been aggressive with humans. Rocco pulls on his lead when he is walked and has a tendency to jump up when get gets excited to see you or if you are patting him. However, he is easily corrected and can still learn a lot if someone takes the time.
Cindy has a heart of gold. She is sweet and timid, and starving for affection. You can see the wisdom in her eyes as she is trying to figure out everything that has gone on. She appears to be more content than Rocco. While he watches the door for their foster father, she lies on the porch in the sun. She also knows "come", "sit" and "off" but has not demonstrated the other commands. Cindy initiates play between the two of them and makes it very clear to Rocco when she has had enough. Cindy tends to jump when you give her affection. She is fine if you get down to her level for your hugs and kisses. Cindy is better on the leash and loves to go for walks. She wants to be part of the family. Cindy jumped a 3 foot gate because she heard the 18 month old upstairs and wanted to join the fun.
Rocco and Cindy have been amazingly well behaved in their foster home. They are the most loving dogs, and are very quiet. The only barking has been at the sound of the doorbell. Once the visitor can be seen, they are full of wiggles wanting to say hi!
Rocco and Cindy are searching for a family to love. They do well with children. Ideally, they will do best in a household where they are not left alone for long hours. Both Rocco and Cindy prefer the company of their family and are happy to curl up at your feet as you watch TV.
Please contact us if you can provide Rocco & Cindy a forever home together. They are very loving dogs that can offer so much to the right family that can love and care for them the rest of their lives.

They were surrendered by their owner because an individual in the house developed allergies. They had been living in a home with 4 children ages 6 to 13, an elderly individual and a male cat. Both Rocco and Cindy are now up to date on their shots. Rocco was already neutered, but Cindy needed to be spayed at the rescue. The information from the incoming profile sheet at the shelter states that they are both friendly and playful, and this has certainly proven to be true. The information also says that they are used to being left alone for about 4 hours at a time, like to sleep in bed with the owner, and are accustomed to bathing. They both like to play ball and frisbee, and their favorite game is "playing with kids".
10/05/00- Both Rocco and Cindy were so happy to be headed for their foster home. They rode well in the car for the short trip home, preferring to be on the back seat. When they reached the foster home, they enjoyed running in the yard and playing with each other. They are being fostered at a home with an 18 month old child. They are cautious and gentle around her, slobbering her with Boxer kisses without knocking her over.
