9/04/01: UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER HOME - After living with this little girl for a few days I have decided that the song "Girls just want to have Fun" was written just for her. Although she can be a bit of a bull in a china shop her biggest problem is she just doesn't know how to play, so she tries everything she can think of all at once. She greets people with a Turbocharged hula hiney that could shame a Hawaiian dancer. She eats like its her last meal. She needs some manners on lead but responds instantly to correction either verbal or physical. Aretha would make someone a great jogging partner as her energy level will match theirs or a family with a large fenced in yard where she can run, dig, and lay on her back in the grass and contemplate the universe. I believe older children would be ok with her but small ones would be bowled over with her friendliness. She showed interest in cats but no aggression. I also feel that she would do real well with another strong willed dog who could continue her education in the finer things of canine life!
8/02/01 - Aretha is a 9 month old fawn boxer girl. She is up to date on shots, spayed, on heartworm preventative, crate trained, and housebroken. Aretha's owners have new work commitments and feel that she needs a home where someone is with her more. Aretha is a very energetic boxer girl, so a fenced yard is a must. She has had some basic obedience training but with all young boxers, Aretha occasionally exhibits "selective hearing" :)
Aretha was attacked by another dog a few months ago and while there were no serious injuries, she has now become defensive upon meeting dogs. We feel that this is something she can overcome with time, training, and supervised interaction with other dogs but for now she should be an only dog. Aretha has not been around cats. She would do best in a home with older children because of her boundless energy and enthusiasm. This girl would thrive in agility!!
If you have the energy and experience to keep up with this sweet girl, please submit an online application!
