Sadly, Briggs is coming back into rescue. He's a loving dog but proved to be too much for the children in the family. Briggs would do well in a structured home with experienced boxer folks. He gets along well with female dogs; we don't know how he'd do with cats. Briggs' ears are looking much better but still require daily cleanings to keep him comfortable. Please give his handsome boy the chance he deserves! He's so loving and fun. Laurie Lessig 07/15/03 - No longer accepting Apps.
07/10/03 - Update and new pics Briggs is the perfect dog! He settled into his foster home the first Health wise, Briggs is healing well from his neuter. His ear infection has been brought under control with daily cleanings and medication. The cause of the ear infection is most likely related to his allergies, which may be controlled long term with either medication or special diet... we're not sure yet. We started him on an antihistamine yesterday and we're waiting to see if that will stop his itching. If not, we'll try the diet. Briggs is now current on his vaccines, is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative. He's about 5 lbs shy of his optimum weight, which will be around 62 lbs. He met a 10 month old toddler this past weekend and did pretty well with her, but because we don't have a history with children, we feel he'd be best with older kids. He may not be good with cats as he has demonstrated prey drive with bunnies and my pet rats. He has done well with all the female dogs he's met on leash, and may do well with males as well. Briggs seems to be a well adjusted dog who is just the sweetest little guy!! He's in good shape and still has a lot of spunk. Please consider him because he will be a delightful companion. 07/04/03 - Briggs Briggs is a 7 yo bouncing boxer boy!!! He was turned in to the shelter because his owner is in the military and has no time for him. Obviously, as this poor guy has very bad ear infections that will require us to sedate him in order to treat him. He is a great dog - reported to be housebroken, good around kids, good around most dogs, although he has never been around cats. He wiggles his whole back end when he sees anybody. We will be moving him to a foster home this weekend and will update the site when we know more about him. Please consider this sweet little guy.
