08/20/03 - Bruiser

Here’s Bruiser! He’s a big, goofy bundle of fun, according to his foster mom. This boy is up to date on shots and will be neutered before going to his new home. He is not used to being walked on a lead, and will often get tangled up. He waits patiently while his foster mom untangles his foot and then they continue on their walk. Bruiser does not do well in a crate, but when left with his foster “brother” in the laundry room, managed to stay out of trouble while the rest of the family went out for a few hours. He’s only had a couple of accidents in his foster home, but that’s typical of a dog who’s been moved to new surroundings.

“This little boxer boy responds very well to commands. He has already learned "paw & other paw", “down” and “hi five”. We are working on the sit and stay commands. He is such a lovable boy...with BIG boxer hugs and kisses. He loves to follow you all over the house and isn't afraid when his foster parents are cleaning house. He rides well in the car... and loves to have a paw or chin resting on you while in the car. He has a healthy appetite and is housebroken. Bruiser will fuss for a minute at bedtime...but 1 stern "be quiet & go to bed" and he settles right down. He loves squeaky toys and a place to run and play. This dog is a wonderful companion and just loves to be with you. He does well with other dogs; especially boxer buddies that love to play.”

Because of his size we would not consider him in a home with children under 12. Bruiser will need an owner committed to giving him some obedience training with regular reinforcement and rewards for good behavior only. If yours is the perfect home for this goofy guy, please let us know!!
