I have been fostering Major for approximately 3 weeks now, and he is in the process of recovering from his heartworm treatment. By this I mean I have to keep him calm at all times. This will go on for another 3-4 weeks, and trust me it's not easy. Everyday he gets more pep in his step even while he's on his leash. He just started chewing on the leash when we're out as if to say he's had enough of it.

As I said in my last update that I had a cat and Major wasn't too happy with him. Well the decision is that Major can not be placed in a home with a cat!!! Major may not like cats but he loves children!!! I have my niece and nephews that like to come over and when they met Major they all went crazy. Major was great with them, loves all the cookies and all the attention. It was the first time that I've had kids and a dog all in one room and was still able to hear myself think!!! I know it will end when Major can start behaving like a normal Boxer. The kids are counting the days when they can take Major outside to play. I'm also looking forward to watching him play.

Note: We will not be placing Major in a permanent home until he has his follow up exam from his doctor and is given the OK to return to normal activities.

Here's Major!!  A very handsome 6 year old boy, who is very friendly.  I've had Major for only 7 days and so far he has been absolutely amazing.  Not only is he handsome but he is very intelligent as well.  He doesn't go on furniture if uninvited, but if asked to come up on the bed at night he comes right up and loves every minute of it.  He has his own bed which he has no problem sleeping on when he chooses to take a nap.

Since Major has been treated for heartworm it is very important to keep him calm.  So far he has been a perfect gentleman.  He has been introduced to my cat but doesn't seem to like him very much.  They see each other from a distance everyday so I'm sure in time Major will warm up to him.  I haven't had any children over to meet Major yet so I'm not sure how he is with them, but I'm sure he will love them.  He just loves getting attention and wants to be touched at all times.  He's definitely all about the love!!!

8/5/04 -Major

Major is a 6 year old male that has Lyme's disease and is Heartworm positive. He was surrendered to a shelter by his family because they did not want to pay for the treatment.

We are currently treating his Heartworms and he will be put on antibiotics for the Lyme Disease and we are expecting a full recovery.

Currently he is at the vet's office and has won the hearts of the staff. He is one sweet boy.
He will be ready to go to his new foster home this week. We will consider placing during the 6 week period where he requires a quiet environment.

Major has lived with small children. He loves to go for rides in the car (know a boxer that doesn't). He is housebroken and loves to play with his squeaky toys. We have no history with Major and cats at this time.

Please help us find this wonderful boy his new start in life.

Are you ready for a MAJOR relationship??
