Tara was taken to a wonderful foster home in New Hampshire. She ate well and was enjoying life. After a few a days Tara developed a cold ( from being in the shelter). Because she was so emaciated Tara did not have much reserve. Tara's cold became pneumonia and without the body strength she needed Tara passed away.
We gave her every chance to recover and would like to thank the foster home and the doctors and nurses at the hospital who tried so hard to save her.

10/14/04 - Tara

Tara is an absolutely enchanting 5 year oldish brindle girl. She weighs in at a very pathetic 32 pounds, and will need to put on some *much* needed weight before we have her spayed.

I picked up Tara yesterday, and instantly fell in love with her. This emaciated little girl came out to me, walked very shyly over, and leaned against my leg. I crouched down to properly introduce myself, and was greeted with a very tentative kiss. I promised Tara she would have all the food she wanted and needed, a soft warm place to sleep, and a person to love her more than anything else in this world. After making my promise, I bought her a ton of home made cookies (which she messily ate all over my front seat!) and we headed off to see our one of our favorite vets! Tara curled up in my lap (yes while I was driving!) and fell fast asleep.

Our vet looked her over for us, and sent out some blood work just to be sure she was healthy, and it seems that besides needing to gain a lot of weight, she is in pretty good condition.

Tara is a small brindle girl with natural ears and a natural tail. She was found wondering the streets. Apparently she did not find enough food. Tara is one of the thinest dogs we have taken from the shelter. Because of her color the pictures do not show you how thin she really is. It is heart braking to see the condition she is in. Tara needs somewhere quiet to recuperate. Somewhere that the people will be slow and gentle with her, and let her know that she is loved.

Are *you* that person?? If so - please fill out an online application.

THESE ARE THE DOGS THAT NEED US THE MOST.

Taking an easy dog from someone who has to move and rehoming him is not a huge challenge. The challenge is transporting and caring for dogs like this.
The challenge is finding the funds to help these dogs.

Thatıs where YOU come in. We need donations to cover the medical bills for these dogs. Remember we get no public or private funding. We rely on adoption fees and your donations to cover our expenses.

ALL THE MONEY GOES TO THE DOGS!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an online application first.  Then e-mail the contacts below.  Be sure to include your full name, city, state, and area code in the subject line of your message.
