Holly
Fostered in Vermont |

| 11-21-2002 Holly entered this life with a Cleft palate; two large holes in the top of her mouth which made eating very uncomfortable. She would drink water, only to have it run out her nose. When she ate, some of the food would go into her nose and airways, making her sneeze and choke to clear it out, yet this little trooper always had a kiss and a wiggle no matter how uncomfortable she was. When a New Jersey rescue group obtained her six years ago, they had several surgeries performed to correct her defect, but were aware that these were apt to open up at some point in the future. Holly was eventually placed with a woman who loved her very much, and sadly, when she died her relatives chose not to keep this sweet girl. Holly then found herself in rescue once again. Two surgeries have now been performed (the surgeon said it was the worst case he has ever seen). Some of Holly's teeth had to be pulled; the holes in the roof of her mouth were filled and she was given two weeks to recover. The second surgery was performed on November 15. Holly is now feeling great; she is healthy, and the only change in her diet is that she must eat only soft food for the rest of her life. She is not on any medication. Holly loves kids and walks at the dog park were she gets her daily exercise. This sweet girl needs a home that will love her for the rest of her life because she has so much love to give and wants to be someone's best friend. The surgery to repair Holly’s mouth cost nearly $5,000. While this would be devastatingly expensive for any individual, we feel that by appealing to all our friends, we might be able to help raise much-needed funds to cover the cost.
