"
Billie
Jean"

This
dog has been adopted but has not yet completed the two week "trial
period" in it's new home. Should the placement prove to be a poor fit for dog
and/or family, he/she will be moved to the AVAILABLE section on the Available
Dogs page.
- 12/10/00 - Billie Jean has
recovered completely from the heartworm infestation! She is doing
great and is ready for a permanent home. She got along well with the
little dog in her foster home and the older children. She would love a
home where she could have all of the attention for herself!
- 11/13/00 - Billie is
recovering nicely in a loving foster home. She's not "out of the
woods" yet - but coming along nicely.
- 11/10/00 - Billie Jean
received her heartworm treatments on Tuesday and Wednesday of this
week. She was allowed to come home Wednesday night. She is doing well
although much quieter than normal and seems to be sore in the hind quarters
(where the injections were given).
For the next 4 weeks, she needs to be kept fairly quiet - no playing, running or rough housing. We are keeping her crated when we are not home and confined
to a small area with a baby gate when we are home. This allows her to see us
but keeps the other dogs from bothering her and keeps her activity level down.
When the other dogs are outside, she has a few minutes to roam freely and cuddle
with me. She tends to bark if put off by herself somewhere. She has not been
eating well - but she did not before treatment either. Time should take care
of that.

Please contact as soon as possible if you can provide Billie Jean with a
quiet, cozy home to recover in!
- 11/8/00 - Billie Jean is
a 5 ? yr old fawn female that was found wandering in downtown Rochester
dragging her leash! No one ever inquired about her at the shelter so
she came into rescue last week. During her vet examination, it was
discovered that she had an advanced case of heartworm. She has now
been treated and is in desperate need of a foster home in which to
recover. She will need lots of quiet crate / couch time for the next
several weeks.
Billie is extremely sweet with everyone she meets - she just loves
people! She is super petite - weighing in at only 38 pounds! She
gets along with other dogs ok but does like to try to be dominant. A
single word of correction puts her back in line. No cats or birds for
this girl - she is WAY TOO interested.
Please let me know ASAP if you know of such a foster/permanent home for
her!!
