Available for adoption through Little Buddies Boxer Rescue

Butch

2/12/03 - Butch has been adopted!

8/16/02 - Butch is again taking applications.  He spent some time with a couple who were planning on adoption, but he is a handful and was returned to rescue.  Please keep in mind that this big guy is full of love and can also be a big headache IF he's not taken seriously.

He has been nothing but a joy to my household.  Because we are very structured and have rules that must be followed, he knows right from wrong without question.  Craig and I are a very Alpha couple and there is a clear line drawn that WE are in charge.  This is exactly what Butch needs to thrive.  He needs a very gentle, but firm role model to lead him.  Butch must be shown right from
wrong in a very positive, intellectually stimulating manner.  Force will NOT work with him, as he is much stronger than you or I.  I have never raised my voice or my hand to him; our relationship is based on trust and consistency.  Being consistent and loving with him allows him to feel safe and trust that I will only lead him in the right direction.

Butch is a crazy, wacky dog that loves the park and walks and other dogs and all the things happy dogs like to do.  But he needs the attention and stimulation that a trouble-making two year old child needs!  Please take into consideration the headaches and the frustration, the joy and
the love, the temper-tantrums and the sloppy wet kisses.  I never said this guy didn't have character!

7/09/02 - We have decided that Butch would be best in a home with older children.  I have had a lot of you guys emailing to adopt him, but there are small kids at home.  Butch is a great dog, but is touchy when you play or wipe off his feet and ears.  These are things little ones don't even think about and I can't justify a  possible accident just to get him into a permanent home.  Please understand that  he is a great dog that needs an experienced owner to help ease the transition into a new home.  This guy is super sensitive and needs to be treated as such.  I love him to death and I'm holding out for that special person to come into his life.

6/10/02 - Butch has been with us for about a month and we have found that he is a total gem!  He is totally housebroken, loves to play with chew toys and a big rope he beats himself with!  He has been having a ball with my spaniel mix, Hanna.  They play like two crazy kids!  Butch completely loves having a playmate and he's so gentle with her, it's really nice to watch them play together.

The only thing I would change about Butch is that he will bring you everything in the house if it's not bolted down!!  Just sitting in the living room, and here comes a sock, shoes, kitchen towels, kleenex boxes, etc.  So the mischievous one must be watched at all times!

5/26/02 - Butch is a newly neutered, 20 month old, male Boxer/Pit bull mix.  He was found as a
stray but obviously lived in a home before being picked up because he is very much housebroken, very lovable and completely obedient.

He will not jump on you, but sits calmly to be petted.  He tells us when he has to go outside and asks politely to be let back in by sitting at the back door.  He puts up a good front and has the face of a monster, but is such a big baby!  He passively flops on his back as soon as he thinks he's done something wrong.  He's deathly afraid of a squirt bottle and will gladly join you in the bathroom for company!  We take wonderful walks and Butch behaves like a perfect gentleman.  He tolerates his crate, I think it's a new experience for him and he's taking to it quite well.

He is a great, happy, fun loving dog who needs an experienced handler - He has shown NO aggression while we've had him, but he's a strong guy and I need to make sure he's well taken care of and understood in his new home.  I was tentative with him at first, but he's leapt into my heart and in his eyes I only see love and the willingness and desire to please me.  He is a beautiful creature and a big doof at the same time!
