"Blaze aka Cage"

I've been
Adopted!!
3/29/00 - Here
is an email we received from Blaze's new Mom!!
"Hi! Hope your weekend went well. Ours was great! Blaze and Roxie
(my older dog) have crossed a bridge. They wrestle and run around the yard together.
Roxie looks like she is actually laughing when they play. Not to mention Blaze is in his glory. They did have a spat, I think it was over a
treat Roxie wasn't finished with and Blaze thought she wouldn't mind sharing. She
did. We yelled at both of them and they got time outs in their beds.
(I know I'm crazy, but I'm not kidding) We are all falling very much in love with Blaze. He's a great dog!!!
I wish I had more money and time, I would open up my own shelter. The one big thing
we are working on is housebreaking. He doesn't yet know how to let us
know he has to go out, but we haven't crated him during the night and he's been
fine. (he has his own bed next to mine) It's during the day, right in front
of us. So. . . we are working on it. As far as an update on the relationship between my cat (Spooky) and Blaze. .
. She must know he doesn't really want to hurt her, because she will turn her
back on him. They can now pass each other in the hall, kitchen, they were even on my back step waiting to come in together (all three of them)
so we are definitely making progress. I think they would be completely fine once
she lets him smell her real good, but there's just not a chance of that happening yet. She swatted him and he knows she can hurt his nose,
and he doesn't get angry, so just another thing to watch and work on. His ears seem to be okay. I think it may have been water from his
bath the day we picked him up. His tail still has that scab on it. It does
look a little better, but it does still open when he hits it against the wall,
wagging it. He's such a happy little thing. I can't figure out why someone would
want to give him up never mind be cruel to him! Well, I've chatted on and on like a proud mother. Thanks for
listening! I will keep you posted so you have something to add to your success
stories!"
3/9/00 - This is cage. He got his name because he's been in a cage for so long. He needs to get out! He sits in his cage looking soooo sad. He just wants to get out into a loving caring home! He doesn't get along with all other dogs, but is fine with some. He needs to put some weight on too- running stray wasn't good for his nutrition, especially in the middle of winter. He is exellent with people and just wants love, love, love! He may be a boxer mix or just bad breeding. Whatever may be in him, it sure is sweet.
