"Higgins"

This dog has been adopted but has not yet completed the two week "trial period" in it's new home. We are no long accepting applications or inquiries. Should the placement prove to be a poor fit for dog and/or family, he/she will be moved to the AVAILABLE section on the Available Dogs page.

• 12/31/00 - Here is the latest on Higgins with some new pics....

  Took Higgins to the Vets on Tuesday to have him neutered. Heart worm test was negative and he is now up to 58.4 pounds. He looks so much better. We introduced him to our girls and he is loving every minute of the attention. Three against one doesn't seem fair but he handles it well. He still hasn't chased our cats but does eye them when they cross his path. We are enjoying the time with him. He has met our male Pomeranian and doesn't seem to bother with him. The Pom on the other hand has issues with new dogs in the house. Higgins handles it like a true gentleman.

• 12/26/00 - Happy Holidays......On December 16th I took a trip to pick up a male Boxer from a shelter. When I got there I saw a very sad eyed, skinny and yet beautiful dog. Our guess is that he was about 1 1/2 to 2 years old. Due to him having what they thought was kennel cough, and me having another dog with me. I had to leave him there one more night.  I once again took the long trip the next day. All the way down I was wondering how he was going to act. I was amazed at what a loving and wonderful dog he was. He road all the way to my house in the crate with out one bit of noise. He has since showed me how a loyal dog can be.  
  
  Higgins as we named him is always looking for a lap to curl up on. Not an easy thing to do for a 56 pound big boy. Vet visit went well. He is under weight but other than a virus he is healthy. We have spent the past few night cuddling up on the couch and watching movies. He seems to be housebroken and ask to go out by going in a circle and heading for the door. Hardly ever barks. He knows some basic commands like sit, down, and shake. We are putting the weight on him slowly and he is looking better. He is scheduled to be neutered on December 26 and will then be ready for a foster home or a forever home. Could you please bring some more joy to his life by taking him into your heart and home........
  
  He is a very loveable gentleman.....
