Happy Beginnings and Follow up: Emma, Now Sally

Emma, who I renamed Sally had about a 3-week bladder infection when I first got her home. The Dr. put her on medication and she has been doing great since then. At first there were a lot of accidents. She doesn't tear up the house but does have a few too many accidents even after the infection was cleared up. She gets my shoes but only carries them around, does not hurt them. Actually she softened up a new pair for me and now they fit better. She has gained some weight and is now 60lbs. Vet says this is a good weight for her.

I'm getting her pretty well trained with a brand new cage. She has taken quite well to it. She now has lots and lots of toys and plays with each one in succession and then starts all over again. She has enormous energy, get up and go. She loves to play and runs speed circles around the fenced-in yard. We play Frisbee often and she's finally bringing it back to me. Sally hates sweepers and lawn mowers. She tries to eat the sweeper bag while I run it and tries to chew the tires on the lawn mover. She is soooo funny.

This is a very affectionate and loving little girl. She snuggles up to me each night and sleeps straight thru. If I wake in the night she has ner face nuzzled into my neck. She and the cat, Sweatie, have finally become fast friends and the cat has learned to tolerate her exuberance. She is a constant shadow and appears to be attached to my right knee everywhere I go. She is learning new commands and we are enrolling in our first obedience class next week. She has to learn to Come on Command. If she would get out of the fence she'd be in the next county before I could catch her.

She gives big wet kisses and loves everybody. She is terrific with kids. Even my 2-year old nephew plays with her and she walks in slow motion so as not to frighten him when he is near her. She gets a little jealous but does not take it out on the baby. She just tries to get closer to me. This special pup has been a real gift from God. I love her more than I thought possible. I'm forwarding a few pictures of the tons I have been taking. I will keep in touch.
