Happy Beginnings and Follow up: Tess aka Mecca

From her forever family :

We have changed Mecca's name to Tess. She is doing just great. Jake (Tess's boxer brother) gave up his spot on the bed last night for Tess. He slept on the floor next to the bed on a blanket. They played a lot last night. She finally ate around 11:00 p.m. They both decided to get up at 5:00 a.m. (Ugh) to play some more. I came downstairs and let them out and then we went back to bed. This time Jake was on the bed and Tess was on the blanket on the floor until 7:00 a.m when the alarm went off. We went downstairs again and ate. Jake ate first while she was outside and then she came in and ate after he was done. You will be happy to know that she has mastered the doggie door. She can come and go as she pleases, but she mostly follows Jake in and out. When I got home they ate again. She is eating fine.

She has also learned to open the container that holds 40 lbs. of dog food. It is in the kitchen on the floor next to the oven. Earlier this evening Tess comes walking out into the living room with the food scoop in her mouth and the scoop had some food in it. She put it down and began eating out of the scoop. Ok. I figured I left it on the counter and there was some food left in it so she smelled it and decided to take it off the counter. Wrong!!! Because when I put it back in the container, about 10 minutes later my daughter is in the kitchen picking up morsels of dog food. When I asked her what she was doing, she said "the scoop fell off the stove and I am putting it back." That scoop didn't fall because I know I put it back. She is opening the the container with her nose and eating the food!!!! And of course Jake is sitting right next to her watching and then eating. No wonder he is getting a bit beefy. Now that I think of it, I know I have picked that scoop off the floor more than once this week, but I didn't think anything of it......until now. I know it was her.!!! Can you believe her. Jake teaches her the toilet routine and she teaches him how to get the food. They are too much.!!!
