- There's a purebred fawn male boxer at one of our local NJ shelters,
and I visited him yesterday. Luke appears to me to be about 4-5 years old.
He's had a hard life, but seems to me as though he would make a wonderful
companion given time and some obedience classes. I don't think he's had any
training, and it's obvious he's had a hard life. He has a couple of large
(healed) scars on his left shoulder which do not appear to have been
sutured. He looks as though he has been kept outside, which is completely
inappropriate for a boxer, who has almost no fur and can't tolerate the
cold. Luke does not like cats at all, but seemed to be fine with one of the
other young dogs they had at the shelter. If you're interested in adopting
