"Maverick"
This dog has been adopted but has not yet completed the two week "trial period" in it's new home. Should the placement prove to be a poor fit for dog and/or family, he/she will be moved to the AVAILABLE section on the Available Dogs page.
8/25/01 - No longer accepting applications
8/12/01: Maverick is coming back to rescue because he just could not get along with the cat in the home. Maverick also seems to have a problem with certain dogs. So a home without a cat or other dogs is perfect for him. Maverick loves people! He is a cuddle bug and only wants affection. Maverick does not have to be crated when alone. He doesn't have accidents and is not destructive at all. Maverick has been treated successfully for heartworm and will be neutered and ready to go to his new home this week. If you want a dog that is loving, affectionate and sweet, this is the boy for you!!
06/14/01- Hi my name is Maverick and I'm a fun loving, happy 5 year old guy. I don't really understand what's happening to me, all I know is my family of 5 years suddenly developed allergies to me and I was placed in shelter. The shelter was able to find me a home but when my new owner took me to the vet he found out I was heartworm positive so he brought me back to the shelter. My new friends at Boxer Buddies took me from the shelter and tell me not to worry, I'll be just fine. I don't know what all this talk about heartworm is but I heard the nice people in rescue discussing how it could have been prevented and I shouldn't have to go through this. It's a little scary to me because after I undergo treatment for these nasty heartworms, and have some time to rest and let the medicine work, I have to have more surgery. They call it a "neuter" and I'm not sure I'll like that. My new vet also said I need some gum surgery and there is a cyst on my head that needs to be removed. My new rescue friends keep telling me everything will be okay, and they can find me a new family. I like other dogs, I'm okay with kids, and I really like to give hugs ask anyone that's met me. I have so much love to give to a new family, won't you consider taking me home with you?
