1/31/01 - Max is a 3 year
old neutered boxer. He is fawn with a black mask and a white chest and
weighs about 65 pounds.
His former owner writes: "He loves children and plays well with them. Max gets
along with other female dogs (our female rottie is in the pictures with him)
and other small dogs and cats. He has problems with large male dogs as he
tries to run the house and will attack our large male rottie even when he is
ignoring him.
Max was rescued from a shelter (he was placed there by his initial owners
when the marriage broke up and there was quite a bit of fighting. He will
have occasional accidents when someone is yelling even now.) and has adapted
quite well to our home except for his problems with our other male dog. He
is crate trained and will go to his crate on command. He knows the commands
"sit", "come", "wait", and "down".
He will shake for a cookie and will allow his food bowl to be moved without
any problems. He will get on the sofa but will get off on command.
Max is shy initially upon
meeting new people but once he warms up to you, he is friendly and can't get
enough loving. Max is used to being left alone crated for a normal work day
and then wants to come out and play. He enjoys playing outside and will
chase a ball thrown for him for as long as you will throw it. Max has mild
separation anxiety but handles it quite well with his crate while we are out
during the day. He can be placed outside for short periods of time but will
then want to be in the house unless we are outside too."
