Memorials
The true measure of how deeply we love our boxers is the size of the hole they leave in our hearts and our lives when they die.  We share these memorial tributes to the dogs who have made our lives better for having known them.

CoCo
Dear Boxer Rescue,
Coco came to live with us just days before her first birthday, in February of 2003. We knew within the first 5 minutes of her visit that she was a great dog. And your volunteer who brought Coco to our house knew we were an okay family when we calmly cleaned up the puddle she left on our kitchen floor without skipping a beat in our conversation!
All of you know and adore boxers so we don't have to tell you how much love, joy, loyalty, fun, energy, cuddles, kisses, wiggles and sheer entertainment Coco brought to our lives in the 9 years we were blessed to have her with us. Though people told us how lucky she was to have been adopted into a loving home, we always knew that we were the lucky ones.
Sadly, Coco was diagnosed with cancer in early December - hemangiosarcoma. She came through abdominal surgery beautifully and was quickly back to her wonderful self. Her body tried very hard to beat back that aggressive cancer but lost the battle. A loyal sweetheart until the end, Coco died at home last month cradled by loving hands.
The house is far too empty now. We miss her terribly.

In Loving Memory of "Murphy" 9/14/09"

Dear NBR,

I just wanted to tell you how wonderful of a friend Murph was to me and my family.  It was a very sad day Tuesday, September 14, 2009.   Murph didn't weigh much when I adopted him and truly was abused but his spirit was always one of life and love!!  Murph became my best friend and co-pilot through many tough times. I hope you can help me put this in a Memorial on Boxer Rescue website where I found him. Sept 99-June 2000 adopted dogs.

Thank you again Jane and I hope I can help foster/adopt another friend, it's a blessing!!

Austin Dunford and Family

Murphy's Memorial:
"Our Best friend, my co-pilot for 10 years. You were loved by all who met you. Words can't descirbe you, you were Murph. I fostered and adopted you back in 99 and though you had been through horrific things before we met, your spirit shined through and provided light in our lives every second of every day...
We will miss you pal!

In Loving Memory...
words from Maura Kirkpatrick

This section is special. It is dedicated to all our faithful companions, loyal friends and devoted pets.  Here, we acknowledge them for their lifetime of commitment, steadfast service, undying friendship, and most of all their pure unconditional love, to us, their human guardians. We thank them for a job well done.  We thank them for sharing their lives with us. We thank them for being the best that they could possibly be.  We think of them often and will never forget them. They will always be with us; their memories are only a thought away.

As the following canines are called, once again they become visible. One by one, name by name, they step forward to accept the honor, recognition and remembrance they so deserve.  A golden ray of sunshine shall forever shine upon them as we their faithful companions, proudly watch and wipe our tears away.

We will guard their loving memories they left behind; they are buried deep within our hearts, forever. May they all rest in peace, each and every one.  Until we meet again, our friends…

Sadie: 01/01/03- 03/19/08

In memory of Sadie....

Almost four years ago you brought sunshine into my life.  You’ve been taken from me too soon, and I will miss you always.  I’ll remember the softness of your coat, the sparkle of mischief in your eyes, and that silly way you used to plow your pillow around with your head.  I hope you haven’t suffered, and that you’re in a better place filled with bones, friends, and lot of squirrels.  Sleep well, baby girl.

Love, Mom

IN MEMORY OF COOPER
2005 - 2007

We are sad to report that Cooper has lost the battle with his rare liver disease.  Until very recently he was doing well and enjoying life.  However when Cooper started to fail he deteriorated quickly and could not be saved.

Cooper brought a special joy to all who loved him.  We are eternally grateful to Carrie for making his short stay in this world a happy one.  Cooper was exceptionally endearing and will remain in our hearts forever.

“Not the least hard thing to bear when they go from us, these quiet friends, is that they carry away with them so many years of our own lives.” …..John Galsworthy

We thank you for all your thoughts & donations for Stella.

"We are sad to report that Stella left us suddenly on May 3rd. Although her tumors were shrinking and her chest x-rays were clear, giving us all reason to hope for a miracle, her disease was apparently still spreading elsewhere internally. She never showed any signs of being in pain and her quality of life was good right up until the end. "

Miss Sadie (PA)
"Sometimes no matter how hard we try its just not enough.  I was to bring her to her foster on Friday. It's so sad she never made it to a home.

Please think of the others still in the kennels. "

"This is terrible. So sad as I had a possible foster for him in just 12 hrs.  Please put him in the memorial page.  He should not be forgotten."

Taurus (PA)

Killed 01/03/03 before we could get him.
